All Mods Now Outdated?
So it's been years since I last played KCD and I recently got a beefy new graphics card.I wanted a new playthrough with all the bells and whistles on and all the mods as well. Last time I didn't have any mods installed because it barely ran on my outdated graphics card and was playing on lowest settings.

Problem is that when I try to boot up the game, a message after intro saying that all outdated mods are now placed in a different mods_old folder. And somehow it's ALL of them. Including 'No Helmet Vision'.

So two options exist :
1) new update borked every mody out there for this 5 year old game

2) I messed up somehow and installed a mod that messes up the whole thing. Like that Perfection Reshader mod.

Can anyone shed any light as to why this could be? Are mods working for you guys?

There was a major API / Database update in 11/2019 that "borked" many mods - so, mods not updated after 11/2019 should be considered questionable.

The mod community for KCD was rather lackluster, but that's to be expected for a 1-off game.

There are two Save mods that work.

Other mods that touch the data files were poorly developed in the first place, so even if they were updated they could still be causing conflicts.

For example, many of the mods i was looking at early touched the same file, and the last one to touch the file would win, basically negating the others...

So, i chose to merge all the mods i wanted to use into a single file (mostly QoL updates) .. and then, i just modified the game data file directly (keeping a backup, of course), using this page as a guide:

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6409661-tutorial-tweaking-rpg-parameters/

hope this adds some clarity.

of course, it might actually be your option 2 ;D

Most mods that I use work perfectly. You will have to check the nexus as many mods have had updates in recent years, so you might still be using old versions of the mods.

Thanks for the reply! All the mods I have mentioned, I have downloaded it just yesterday. So I believe I have the updated version.

KCD modding died quite early on unfortunately - there are youtube videos on it. They made it too complicated

Pretty much all mods have a mod.manifest file for KC:D.

If you open mod.manifest with a text editor you'll find they have lines at the end like this: <kcd_version>1.9.6</kcd_version>

Many mods are "fixable" simply by adding a line that has the current KCD version. Not all, but a lot can be "updated" this way.
