Unable to open inventory or diary anymore...

Hello,
I tried to press "I" or "J" to open the inventory or the diary, and it doesn't work anymore like at the start of the game. The problem started after the first two mini missions of the game.

What should I do? I need to equip a sword, but I have no idea how to do it.

PS = I found a temporary fix which is to restart the game every time it happens, but I have to consume an item to save the game, so it's kinda frustrating to do this every time.

Was going to ask if you restarted the game, and/or your computer.

Back up your saves and see if starting a new game (yes, a new one) resolves the problem. My guess is a bug was introduced at game start, it happens in all games but KCD seems particularly fragile. Lucky you aren't too far in if only first 2 missions.

I can fix the problem by simply restarting the game, but I'm still looking for another fix, since like I said, it's annoying to use an item to save the game every time.

Yes, trust me, I did read your post. Now, read my post (or repeated here for convenience) back up your saves outside the game folder and start a brand new game to see if the problem is gone.

This is called troubleshooting, and re-initializing the game, rebooting computer, and restart with a new game are the first things to try.

Again, it is likely you have a bug introduced when the game started, it happens sometimes and restart new game will likely solve it. I doubt there is a simple fix allowing you to keep playing thru, but maybe somebody will come along with a miracle. Meanwhile troubleshoot.

Do you have any mods installed ?

Are you saves from a long time ago, or from a time you used old mods ?

The "start a fresh game and see if the problem persists" from Bandy is a solid suggestion.

Most likely you have a corrupted or old save file - and bad mods can corrupt ur save file

Also, verify your game files, of course - unless you have modded them yourself

btw. there is even save on exit, you dont need use saviour schnaps for it.

Restart ur PC - Verify ur game files - and restart your PC again

btw. there is even save on exit, you dont need use saviour schnaps for it.

Oh, is that easy? It will save normally without any item? LOL, so that's my fix! :D haha thanks

it is only temporary save for one use... you will just continue from that point.. but you cant load it later.

Sometimes keys stop working for me as well, especially in inventory. Keys for moving stuff or confirming trade.
