Steam Deck experiences?

As the search function yields nothing of value, I got to ask myself:

Is anyone who played through KCD on the deck willing to share their experience? In particular, I'd like to know if game breaking bugs were common and how much of a hassle it was to work around them. Comments on controls and anything else noteworthy are also more than welcome.

I'm considering a playthrough on the deck, but I'm somewhat afraid of resolving bugs in a Linux environment (I don't have the slightest clue about Linux) in a game that doesn't allow frequent backup saves.

Well, he shows that the performance is decent, but that's something I wasn't particularly worried about. Still, thanks for the input!

Playing it now with the unlimited saves mod and so far it's very good!

Beat Sir Capon in archery and rabbit hunting with the gyro aim (got to set it up yourself). Good default controls apart from gyro. I get stable 30 fps anywhere with a mix of medium & high and very high textures. Looks fabulous. Battery drains fast though. No crash so far.

I'll report back when my playthrough comes to an end for future searchers.

My experience has not been good so far, and I have made it about three seconds into the game. I'm running the Epic games version through Heroic, which has worked fine for the handful of other games I've tried, but this one does something wonky with the controller. The left stick is moving the camera and the right stick does nothin, so I can't move. The other buttons appear to function as advertised. If they let you remap controls it wouldn't be an issue, but they do not. Seems unplayable.

Are you playing the Epic Games version like the previous commenter?

I am playing on steam deck only. DO NOT INSTALL IT!!!! on the micro SD card. My initial install was on the SD card and some of the cut-scenes and voice overs did not work, ruining the experience. I installed it on device and now it runs pretty smooth.

Yeah quality of the micro SD might matter. Lot of people forget there is actual transfers speed on those.

And I doubt the deck is like the switch where even a cheap SD can reach its max transfers rate.

I actually bought a cheap one: A1 is the lowest write speed. Read speeds on micro SD cards don't matter for the deck as the deck bottlenecks here with 100 mb/s, even cheap cards are higher than that.

Any non fake card is perfectly fine for the deck, cheap ones only take longer for installs.
