Loot and carry weight.
Hi, I was wondering how should I manage all the loot I keep finding.
I just started playing the game and I am on my way to burry my dead parents. However after killing 1-2 bandits I'm already encumbered with the loot even though I sold almost everything I had before to the merchant that had 10 lockpicks.

I'm not really fan of no weight mods or anything like that, I understand I just can't pick everything with me but it all seems a bit too much in the beginning tbh. All those armor pieces and weapons are worth coin that I wish to obtain by selling that loot. Can I actually store items somewhere this rearly in the game?

Indeed you can't, don't be so damn greedy...

You can store items in your personal storage after the prologue. It's in Rattay mill, and also in every inn and tavern where you can rent a room (they have shared inventory). It's also accessible during the prologue in Talmberg, but that's a bit tricky.
You'll also be able to tack your stuff on a horse as soon as you'll get your own.
Download a mod. Unfortunately, the devs keep updating KCD to break the mods and they just updated, so it might be a while before one works again.

Your strength increases your carry weight, so over time you will carry more. About 100 pounds more after youre max in strength and mule perks

Items left on the ground (especially in the open) will despawn quite soon.
If you put them into an (unowned) container they will persist throughout the game.

Skalitz is burned and looted, so this doesn't generally apply during the prologue, but you *can* stash items during homecoming.

Until you get a 'real' horse, be picky about what items you collect. Excess food will spoil. Tattered gambesons et al are worthless... but good quality armour and weapons are either useful or worth carrying for sale.

I used the carry weight mod up until like 15-20 hours of game, then disabled it and started managing the inventory, like, just getting high value gear and items.
I was able to increase the carry capacity/weight today using this:

https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1597?

I did NOT use Vortex this time. The prior time I failed with Vortex—running version 1.9.6 KDC.

I also used this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1649?

Again manually. Then manually edited the "mod_order" text file in the "Mods" folder on the common library (game folder).

Working for me as of today. I picked the game up again. :)

Hope this helps. :)

Except this is not true.

You can take everything, as I do, every time.

You just have to walk real slowly back to the nearest magical trunk of holding.

Then, as the stolen labels wear off over time, you take things out to sell to merchants at your leisure.

Anyone telling you otherwise is wrong.

I don't think anyone really cares after 6 years.

The loot you find in the prologue is barely worth 100 groschen. Stop picking everything up and enjoy the story. You'll find plenty of things to loot later on, and you'll make tons of money. There really is no reason to min-max this from the get-go.

This is absurd... and false.

My character improved his skills and bought all of the Saviour Schnapps he could find. Each one of those is more than "100 groshen".

yes - for me, Henry arrives in Rattay with over 1000 Groschen and well over another 1000 Gr in sellable items

Weight Limit can get in the way, but i adjusted that when i changed the save system.

Also, there is a chest in the main living area of Henry's house in Skalitz that survives from the prologue - so, you can stash gear into this trunk during the Skalitz prologue, and it will be available during the game (in Skalitz, the trunk with the Nails for Theresa).

i'm not sure if the trunk is available during the other alter-Skalitz, when Henry encounters Zbychek and Runt, but the trunk can be loaded up during the early Skalitz prologue and then emptied after arriving at Rattay Mill (and then returning to Skalitz).

Used to pickup a lot of stuff but eventually stopped doing it. Unless you are going to use it, you're better off not to loot, or only specific items. For the money I'd say it's not worth it. Value displayed is the purchase price, not what you get when selling. And when it is damaged or spoiled you will get even less. With bandits it's worthwhile to check what they carry, some of their stuff is the best you can get, especially for stealth.

Get a lock pick and reach level 6, buy beer (with perk) and you can have all the money you'll ever need in the game. Every merchant' chest contains everything they own, incl. Groschen. The millers in Rattay have 1000 Groschen you can pickup every few days. Once unlocked you don't have to unlock it again. If you let the scribe stay in bed, his chest has 200 you can take frequently without any problems.

I'm still alive if anyone is wondering.

You might have figured it out already since it's an old post, but just leave everything at the crate inside Theresa's uncle house in Rattay after prologue. Don't carry armour/clothes that you're not currently wearing. Only carry food and a few Saviour Schnapps and Marigold decoction (for healing), you should make the potions by yourself after learning to read at Uzhitz. Leave herbs inside your horse saddlebag, etc. These are some strategies that I use for weight management. When you have time, fix weapons looted from bandits for free at the equipment from blacksmith area and sell for higher price. Keep doing it until you level up maintenance skill and become able to fix clothes by yourself.
