Dropping potion into pot

Do npc actually eat from the pot?

I am particularly interested in dropping stuff into tarvern pots and I wonder if that actually works...
e.g. Dropping strong alcohol/ sleeping potion

Anyone tried before?

Yes, dropping any potion into a food pot will make anybody who eats from it have the effect. For fun try dropping things into the Talmberg guard house food pot at night. Like 8 guards eat from that in the morning. Easiest way to clear a bandit camp is to sneak bane potion into their food at night and then loot them around 8am.

GOOD, I have some witch potions (causes hallucination), not sure what that would do to the guards

ps: Do strong alcohol work? I'd like to see a whole garrison drunk at night ...

I have to try rage potion on the Talmberg guard house, all the guards eating together in that tiny room, it could be hilarious if it works lol.

I put Witch Potion in the pot for the monks, and just enjoyed watching them go back for seconds--it must've been quite nice for them! I wiped out an entire household for catching me in their home one night, only to receive a quest involving one of those residents in the morning! I had to race back there and hope she didn't eat the stew--but I believe I was too late and she respawned. She didn't have the quest item in her pocket anymore, and I had to stealth kill her and loot her body to complete the quest. When she respawns again, she's really going to hate me!

Where is that pot (for those 8 guards) exactly? Thx

Its in Talmberg. When you enter the gate its the first building to your right, with the trader sitting in front of it. The front room is the sleeping area for the guards, the small kitchen where they all eat is in the back. You can see them all eating from the window near the outside food pot.
