Its most effective against a few light armored opponents or 1 heave armored to distract him and you trying to Thrust at him when he bends down to beat the dog.
Also praising him does add xp points but feeding him about doubles the xp you get.
“Sic” or “agressive” doesnt change the health limit of the dog.
In fact in my experience if you use
agressive option instead of tactially using sic on selected opponents it often charges ahead randomly into a crowd of enemies, gets itself surrounded and finished under a min and half.
Sure it can buy time but not a lot. The only time it can effectively kill on its own is if its attackinga passant or a cloth-armored badits.
1 Bandit with riveted armor long sword and Italian closed helmet will bash the brains out of the dog very fast. Im not talking about multiple. In fact I only seen a dog kill even a medium armor enemy by itself only if he is already running away and dog knocks him down.
Mutt is a warhound. He has saved my azz over and over again. I have never run across a situation where one bandit, even one in full plate, has ended as you describe. There have been instances where Mutt has been scared off, sometimes by a blow from me, but those are few and far between.
Once Mutt and I took down a Cuman camp of 6 - 7 men, in daylight, using my bow and a very helpful Mutt. There were even dogs in the camp and I saw Mutt attack them and take them down then turn on the Cuman. He was still with me at the end.
I hope this clears my statement up.
Yeah, that about describes my experiences with Mutt, as well.
For me...when I am in a 1vmany situation, Mutt charges in, taking on dogs and Cumans and bandits without regard for his own safety.
And if (and when) I possibly can. I will defend him when he is getting hammered. This does two things--it gives me an easy target simply because while the opponent is dealing with Mutt, he is off balance and vulnerable. And it saves Mutt...provided he needs saving.
He's a good boi and we're a good team, Mutt and I. The right hand washes the left--as it should be.
