At some point those spots will show up in your map, IIRC.. But if you run across one accidentally, it will be marked on your map.
All you have to do is find one, find cover overlooking the wallow, crouch down and wait.
Eventually they'll show up.
So you can just wait on that spot until they show up again?
The one NE of Sassau is near a bandit camp. I clear the camp in the early morning and then hunt, haul the meat back to the bandit camp, cook it, and then go sell it.
Got caught east of Rattay one evening, didn't have a horse, was loaded down (beyond carry weight) with roe deer meat, when it got dark. Man that was a painful trek.
Time of Day has nothing to do with the spawn.
Best way to force a respawn is to move away a good distance, then come back in and they should respawn. If they dont respawn, then they are already there, nearby, but you cant see them - or you didn't go far enough away.
"Far enough away" is not very far by the way - somthing like jogging away for ~8 "1000" counts.
Animals can linger up to about 3-4 "1000s" jog from the spawn point.
Hunt is one of the first perks for Mutt. To get perks just keep him feed and happy. When Mutt is fully perked out he is a warhound.
Directions in case you don't know where I'm talking about:
At the cross road before the Ledetchko river crossing (coming from the Rattay terraces), turn left and head up the road (with the tanner's house being on your right as you go).
Keep going and you will see an overturned cart on the road with a bandit camp off to the left of the road and possibly even a skirmish happening (best to gallop past here).
Keep going up the road whilst keep an eye out to the left of the road and look out for a small body of water sunken /cut into the land (boars always hang around those).
Then wait for them to turn up.......... whilst crouching, wearing quiet inconspicuous clothes and looking away from the water then looking around periodically to see if the boar have spawned.
As a side note, if you're hunting to level up your bow skills, telling Mutt to "hunt" is probably not a good idea. Mutt doesn't need to level up his hunting stats.
In fact, I make Mutt stay some little distance from the hunting grounds. If you don't, I suspect that just his presence in the area will keep game away. Hold 'X" after you've made your kill.
I'm using a mod that hides hunting spots on your map so I can't make sure there are boars anywhere unless I see them, and this place seems to be thriving.
Mutt hunting does level up your hunting skill; I think it's a tradeoff between leveling houndmaster with mutt or leveling bow if you do it yourself. I don't like using him for anything other than hares though since he makes a big mess and scares all the other animals away.

It'll reveal all the hunting grounds, caves, and various other things.
