What's the point of the offal perk?

Offal weights more and is worth less than regular meat, has lower or equal durability plus you get so little of it. What gives? What's the point?

Many of the perks are simply a bit rubbish, I'm afraid. The game has a lot of interesting ideas for mechanics, but sadly they have all been left a bit shallow. The best food in the game anyway is the smoked sausage. They are sold by all the butchers everywhere, they give you plenty of nutrition and stay edible for a few days. They make all the other food stuff just feel pointless.
