You start with a fairly high base Reputation with Peschek, but i'm not sure about the other Millers. Other Merchants seem to start at 50 (assuming you weren't evil in Skalitz).
So, by this theory, Peschek should be willing to pay the best prices Early in the game.
However, there does seem to also be some sort of price skew in the game based on who you sell certain things to - for example, i think i've seen Schnapps sell for various prices at different Merchants, even though reputation should be the same - this can be tested, but i've never tested it.
So, after all that, i think my answer sort of is "it depends".
But since wealth is so easy to accumulate in this game, especially later, i'm not sure waiting really matters.
Pechek is at gamestart perhaps a small option, because you can have really fast a high reputaion, but even when other merchants have a signifant lower reputation, they pay you more for your stuff and the difference grows, when you have raised their reputaion.
It is easy and a little difficult to make early correct assumptions, because of different reputation and not every merchant is buying the same stuff, but you can look in your inventory an sort out a weapon, some armor and Savior Schnapps with a good value (like Schnapps with 100) and you can note the Percentage they are willing to pay and you can figure it out yourself.
You must only do it at the same time, because the prices vary a lot.
When you have solved a quest and the overall repution has risen, you get more for your stuff (but you must also pay more for the stuff you are buying),
Also noticed my lock pick last night bugged, the circle dot that goes gold wasn't even there anymore, had to guess until the lock started moving. Wondered if it had owt to do with me robbing all that awesome armour xD
Stolen items remain "stolen" or "hot" until a certain time has gone, more expenisve stuff takes longer to turn clean the timer is based on the value of the item, really expensive items takes a long time to get clean,
If i remember correctly it's 5 groshen per hour, off the default price listed in your inventory, so if you steal a perfectly good sword and then break it to lower the value it will still count from the value it had while it was in perfect condition.
My problem is though, they're in my chest, still says Steal to take them out.. I've already stolen them, shouldn't it say "Take" .. I think the problem when they're in the chest is, they don't have a red hand stolen icon marker like they do in your inventory. Maybe the "Steal" is a marker, but it shouldn't say it, cause well, they're already stolen & I am getting them from MY chest xD
I never seen that in my game, but i saw a yt video about it, and it said that sometimes stolen items get bugged, and in order to fix that, you have to either sell them to the fence and buy them back from him (expensive, but item will not be considered stolen after this), or break to someone's house, put the bugged items in their container and steal them back from it, that resets the clock on stolen item and hopefully it won't be bugged this time ;]
Cheers pal, I'll try it when I get on later. I'm still fairly early in the game & just happened upon these chests full of goodies so I can be rich and not worry again then that "Steal" from my own chest confused me. It's a pain selling as well, waiting for Pesheks wealth to go back up xD
Its not a bug, as long as the item is hot it will say steal when you try to take them in your chest, this is a good thing because its then easy to see if its still marked as stolen or not, if you see that then just leave it in the chest and wait abit and then check again it will change to take when the item is clean :)
I think that's where my confusion lies with it, I'd of expected the red stolen hand marker in both inv and chest, not a "steal" option on something already stolen in MY chest xD But at least it's cleared up, I'll keep an eye on em changing to "Take" .. Thanks
