Horses and damage
I've developed an irrational attachment to Pebbles so I don't know if this is only a feature of your starter horse.

I've done things on horseback that should have broken its legs and forced me to put it down.

Horses in KCD seem almost invulnerable, and that just isn't right.

It's true that horses are big and heavy (and smelly and noisy), but they're also surprisingly delicate. There's a lot of weight resting on those spindly legs, and it doesn't take much to break them.

On what is probably a related note, although I have had to repair horseshoes once or twice, they don't seem to experience wear and tear compared to human shoes and slippers (which are absurdly fragile).

I'd like to see a bit more damage from basic use on all types of horse tack (bridles, saddles, and horseshoes).

I'd also like it if shoes, boots, and slippers didn't wear out so fast (and I really wish small blacksmith kits could clean blood off swords, axes, and maces, but that's another story).

One of the things that you can't do in KCD which is crucially important in real life (tm) is dismount from the horse and lead it through difficult terrain by the bridle.

The Czech Republic probably doesn't have horse-mounted cavalry anymore, but it still exists in certain countries like Chile, where you have to deal with extremely difficult broken and mountainous terrain. Quadrupeds often make more sense than humvees when you're trying to negotiate a narrow track in the Andes.

Those "spindly" legs support a 1000+ lb animal at a full gallop with only one leg at a time taking the full weight. It's true that you'd risk breaking a horse's leg if you tried anything more than a walk in rough terrain, but that applies to any animal.

And about the invulnarability, I tried horseback archery and where moving the bow from the right side of the horse to the left so I could shoot the next bandit.
Got shot by an arrow while transversing from right to left and let loose my arrow.
Shot my own horse in the back of its head. :steamfacepalm:
Of course it insta died but I laughed so hard because the situation was just ridicolous. :steammocking:
Lesson to be learned. Dont draw your bow while switching from one side to the other.
They're indeed invulnerable, unfortunately and fortunately. I don't think I need to explain why.

I really wish you could train your horse to be faster and eventually be just as fast and strong as the "good" horse.

I hate it when games just expect you to toss things for the next newest and greatest thing. I want to be able to improve what I have to that level instead of just tossing for the next thing.

Especially when it comes to a horse or something that is living.

"I know you are the one that has been with me through most of the game and saved my life countless times, but this shop has a horse that moves faster than you, so goodbye."

There is a perk in the horsemanship called race horse. When I put the details of pebbles next to this other horse with the race horse perk it was better.

Up to you though.
I'm saving up to do the From the Ashes DLC I can start now but want at least 100K so no new horsey for me. :)

Groshen are so easy to come by, just go to Skalitz, kill the bandits/Cumans and sell their equipment. Rinse and repeat at will (they seem to always respawn). If you are overloaded, just can put the extra stuff in a chest in your old house or in the sack from the Scavenger quest and pick them up later when you get a lighter load. Investing in a horse with a better carrying capacity is worth it and paid back real quick. Al Buraq and Bucephalus are my favorite. I used Al Buraq in my first playthrough: very fast horse, very endurant (never had to slow down) and very good capacity. This time I am using Bucephalus (I prefer the colour): he has an immense carrying capacity, good speed but endurance is not so good though I don't find I need more for the game...and he is named after Alexander the Great's horse.

I say hello to Pebbles every time I visit Neuhof: he is still there at the entrance.
