Mods
I can't get any to work. I downloaded Unlimited saves, weight, and perkaholic. Extracted them all to a mods folder I created in the game files. Nothing. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

You need to create a text file in the main mod folder along side the mods called mod_order.txt and write in the names of the mods exactly as their folders are named (one per line)

Will try this now, thank you.

Edit: I don't think it worked. My weight remained the same. I don't notice any new perks. I'm not sure about the saving. Idk if these mods are outdated anymore or what but this is disheartening

Edit 2: Does it have anything to do with the mod_status.xml? I see in the file there's the line "mod folder was moved" mine is set to true

Perkaholic has plenty of compatibility issues. That mod is, more than likely, the culprit.

And NEVER install mods with the mod manager.

Yeah I don't use any managers I do everything manually. So one mod could be disabling the rest? I also read on Nexus you could edit the weight parameters directly, I navigated to the rpg_param archive and found the base inventory weight. Increasing that to 1000 had no effect either.

These are the mods I'm trying to load now:
Increasedinventory
MoreFasterXP
UnlimitedSaving (no schnapps)

Tell us step by step what you're exactly doing, then. Because everything should work fine, out of the box, just by creating the Mods folder, inside the main folder and dumping everything you downloaded there.

Created folder in game files called "Mods"
Inside contains the extracted mod files of the above mods as well as a text file "mod_order.txt"

This is the internal edit I attempted.
> Go to the root game directory
> Data
> Make a copy of the "Tables.pak" file and paste it back into the directory as "Tables.pak.copy" so you'll have a backup before editing.
> Right-click the original "Tables.pak" and select "7-Zip"
> Open Archive
> Libs > Tables > rpg > Scroll down to "rpg_param.xml" > Right-click > Edit

Find the following: <row rpg_param_key="BaseInventoryCapacity" rpg_param_value="200" />
Change whatever the rpg_param_value="" is to the desired amount. I set mine to 200, as seen above.

You don't really need the "mod_order.txt" file, btw. It's optional. Most mods work without it.

And you shouldn't really mess with files save for ♥♥♥♥ like user.cfg.

"Mod folder was moved" might have something to do with why everything is disabled, though.

I read that KCD used to disable your mods, in the past, by adding the files to another folder. ♥♥♥♥ like "Mods.old" folder, or something of the sort.

Another thing, though. Some mods don't come with a "mod.manifest" file. Now this one, right here, is NOT optional. You must have one for the mod to work properly. I've seen it, in the past, plenty of times.

About the unlimited weight mod, however, I don't think you've read the instructions properly. You have to edit the mod file. Not the file from the main folder.

At this point it's best to re-roll. Validate your files and say your prayers.

Sorry but you're incorrect. I'm not attempting to edit a mod, but the game files directly. This is something that was done completely separate from the increased inventory mod. This was done BEFORE the mods (i realize my initial post doesnt clarify that) and is completely independent of them, but I've already reversed the edit.
All mods have a mod.manifest

Edit: Doesn't look like changing the mod folder moved line did anything.

This is the mod I'm using and I got the file edit advice from the thread on this mod.

Going to try again with the "mod folder moved" line set to false.

I just verified files and restarted game and this is what happened. I was given a notification that mods were moved and I needed to "install their updates"
As far as I know these mods should be compatible with the current version.

you don't need to mess with the rpg param xml file, why not just use the mod as is made, 99999whatever carry weight? unpack just the zip in ...mods/ and that's it. this mod does not require mod order file and you should not make one if it's not required. just use this single mod, unzip, run game, open kcd.log and kcd launcher.log files in main kcd folder and see if the mod is loaded or there are any errors. nothing should move any files anywhere by itself. where do you get the line mods were moved? i don't get that.
Comrade Pickles Oct 31, 2021 @ 6:55am
Even with ONLY the increased inventory mod that Vine mentioned is working, I still get the notification that mods were moved. I don't really know what do at this point.

Again, I've already reversed the edit to the rpg param file (which is all the mod does, edit this file).
The zip is unpacked in mods.
The mod (inventory capacity) is the only folder in the mods folder.
When I start the game before accessing the main menu I get a notifcation "Because you updated the game to the latest version, mods have been moved to a folder "mods_old" if you want to continue using them, install their updates."
