how hard is it to change a perk?
This afternoon I got a perk in warfare, IIRC and I wanted to pick / learn "Chained Strikes," but somehow i accidentally chose another one. Now I have to wait til level 16 to get another chance at it.

OR

I know that with Lethean Water you can reassign your perks. But how hard to do is that? i am happy with all my choices except this one. And if I could go in and just change the one, that would suit me but...well, I don't know how it works and I have a suspicion that it's a real tedious affair.

Have any of you done this and can you advise me?

You just need to brew the lethean water and drink it. You will need to buy the recipe if you don't know it. Just be careful as sometimes it can remove some of your base perks like the stealth knockout one. Not sure if that bug has been fixed. Save before using it just in case.

I read on another forum that the bug had been fixed in v. 1.9 but I want to be sure. How would I know that the takedown perk was removed? i was under the impressing that it wasn't listed.

I'd rather just kick myself for another four levels than screw up my game.

Main question, how ever is what's the process? Do you have to go through every skill and manually reassign or re-choose? that sounds tedious.

Are there weird disorienting effects while your doing that? Any adverse after effects?

"Main question, how ever is what's the process? Do you have to go through every skill and manually reassign or re-choose? that sounds tedious." - like in every other RPG(or not) game when you respec.

To directly answer your specific questions here, yes, once you drink Lethean water, it resets your entire perk tree for all skills, so you'll have to go through each skill line and reassign them. No real disorienting affects that I can remember.

To my knowledge, they fixed the takedown bug; if you're not sure about it, save right before you drink the potion, then do so and try a stealth attack with and without dagger - if it works, you're golden.

Thank you for taking the time.

Saves have always been a bit of a mystery to me. I mean I know how to do them but esp. in HC I am noticing that I can save a game like with Save and Quit but (not sure I have this straight in my own mind) when I come back into the game and hit Continue, it may be where I left off before I hit Save and Quit, but it's not the same as if I hit Load (latest saved game) Am I making myself clear? Like I said, I'm not sure I am clear about it.

So, practically speaking, if I want to save a game just before doing Lethean, what do I need to do to be able to go back and reload the previous point in the game before I did Lethean? Just in case I notice that takedown is missing?

I know I should probably just forget about re-assigning the perks. But I really kicked myself in my previous playthrough because I missed out on Chained Strikes til very late in the game.

In this case, saving a game just before drinking Lethean water, either sleep & save at a bed you own, or save manually via Savior Schnapps. Sleep & Save counts as an auto-save, so it's icon will be different than if you manually saved. Auto-saves have an icon showing a grey floppy disc, whereas the icon for manual saves is a yellow disc with a potion sitting on it. In both cases, the quest you most recently activated/advanced will be part of the save's name. No matter what kind of save you use, your most recent save will always be at the top of the list. So if you want to make sure you load the correct save, follow these steps:
1) Save your game, either via Savior Schnapps or via sleeping at a bed you own.
2) Immediately drink the Lethean Water
3) Without doing anything else, enter the Player menu and re-assign your skill points.
4) If your new skill point distribution went bad, re-load your most recent save. If you followed steps 2-3 correctly, your most recent save will be the one made right before drinking the Lethean water.

Thanks. I will look at what you are saying more closely but thought I was doing that.

I would wish... if I could have a wish... that when I went to save a 'save' that I wanted to be 'permanent.' the gave would give me the option of naming it-- like "just before Lethean."

The game doesn't work that way though so "you play the hand the way it lays." [shrug]
