Just to confirm...
I have as much time as I want to explore and earn and grow until I hook up with Nightingale... is that right?

Ideally I'd like to at least have a sword before I run off from the relative safety of Rattay and Led. Groschen is so hard to come by I can't afford to buy one. Can't even afford to fix my armour.

When I get those things (or at least the longsword) I'll start going after bandits.
Okay, I don't know if I was lucky in this find or not. I believe it was South/South east of Sasau but there is a bandit camp in that area, and near that camp was a grave. I dug up that grave and found a super great longsword, St Michaels sword. I would try it, assuming the graves aren't random.

Doh!! What a good idea! Thanks for the tip.

I stayed pretty close to the script and quest line first play through.

for whatever reason, I wanted to be about level 9 or 10 before I moved on. Almost there.

So long as you don't let your stamina bar run out, you don't take health damage either. At least in normal mode with the weapons I have tried.

Loot the armories in Rattay. Overload yourself as much as you can and do a slow walk back to the miller. Put everything in the chest and wait for it to cool off. Then slow walk back into Rattay and sell it. Save beforehand and try to kill/pacify guards and loot everything they have.

When you have made about 5k, go to the Neuhof stables, buy Al-Buraq and the four-bagged saddle.

With the horse you can carry so much loot, that Groschen should never be a problem as long as you avoid stealing heavy worthless stuff like the Gambesons, Chainmail and low-tier weaponry.

Also make sure to take all the chalices from the dining hall in the upper Rattay castle. Easy money.

There's plenty of good targets for looting, like the Bailiff of Uschitze or most traders and of course there is plenty of good stuff to be found in treasures, like the St. George sword, which is the bomb.

While you are near Ledechko you may as well get St George's sword, which is better. Head North into the woods and you will come across a big tree surrounded by a fence. It's in a very hard locked chest in there.

Damn, how many swords did they hide around that village anyway? I honestly don't know why everyone in Europe doesn't own a metal detector.

I studied archaeology and it's kind of off-topic, but I can't stress enough how much academics hate people who run around with metal detectors finding ♥♥♥♥ without documenting it properly. Also tons of WWII idiots run into the forerst to find explosives and memorabilie to sell to collectors.

But yeah, sometimes you find hoards of bent swords and depositions of lots of weapons.

It's criminal!

Well, rest assured I'm one idiot who would for sure turn anything found into proper authorities. I like the thrill of finding something significant to cultural heritage, I don't see these things as prizes to be discovered and sold.
