Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Is it possible to kill the cumans in Skalitz ('Run!' quest) on the PC?
As per title. People describing this on the console make it sound easy, but playing on the PC I find it difficult to even control the horse, and turning around on narrow paths is awfully hard. Additionally, it's not possible to run them over — the horse, even in gallop, seems to just slow down to a soft halt upon hitting a Cuman, without doing him any damage. Is this intentional, as in Henry's riding skill being 0 and the devs patching the game so you don't get to loot good gear too early?

I guess it comes down to you and anybody else that plays this game. It's you that is Henry in this game so it's all about what you think and what you want. If you want to play nice and honorable or not that's great for you either way.

In my current play-through (HC) I tried to come out of Skalitz with as high stats as I could. My strength was pretty good and my herbalism was off the chart (considering) and my agility was fair. Weapon stats were good but still mostly marginal.

I didn't get the lockpicks, I didn't get a good weapon. Except for the strength stats I didn't hit Talmberg significantly more prepared than I did in my first play-through when I didn't do any of that.

All, that said, as soon as possible i started training with Bernard. I picked and sold herbs everywhere I went (mostly wormwood and belladonna) I got a good longsword and good (relatively) armour as soon as I was able. And I made buying a good horse and tack a priority. Every time i was in Ledetchko I played Chumps for three rounds.

At this point, I'm not half way through the main quest (haven't even entered the cloister) and I am above 15 in all combat stats and most general stats (strength, agility, etc.).

Looking back, I would not have done the grinding in Skalitz-- I agree it's more or less a waste of time. But i think I would take the same approach (relentless training, etc.) in any subsequent play-through. I feel confidant and relaxed in a way I didn't in my first play-through. Even Henry (perhaps esp. Henry) has to grow up and face reality--git gud, IOW.

tbh in my opinion thats all good if you want to play the good guy. you can, in hardcore, as soon as you get to ratay, steal the entire armoury and wepon shop. Use what you can with your stats and keep the rest in your stash.
Digging this up after my first post-prologue experience of mounted combat with Pebbles and standard saddle and bridle versus two 'suspicious men at arms' from an early main quest. I was better off on foot than trying to fight mounted. And those bandits were not even as well armed as the Prologue Cumans. So I think charging at and past them unarmed with just a sword and joust-stabbing their metal-armoured selves was perhaps only viable due to the developers not wasting time making those particular Cumans more realistic. After all they were supposed to be waves just passing through, not enemies for you to actually fight.

It also kind of feels better for Henry to get his first armour from Talmberg and later Rattay during the respective quests, perhaps do some minor trading before Homecoming and upon arrival in Rattay, also looting enemies en route.

I feel better no longer wearing any of the Cuman gear, though of course it helped me get to the point when I was able to dispatch a certain Peter and get better stuff, if only by just a little.

On my last run I spent extra time bulking up to the point where I could arm myself with a halberd (required strength level 14 if I recall). When I got tired of terrorising the citizens of Skalitz, I initiated the Cuman attack. Long story short - with a halberd they don't have a chance.

And, for clarification- its possible to kill the cumans IF IF IF you min-max exploit the game in skalitz (upped your skills and have a bow/or equipment) schnapps-save and are great and/or lucky at combat.

Its NOT easy and is, in essence, futile.

I did it. Slaughtered every last Cuman with a halberd. Fun times. I'd never do it again though lol. Too much prep work levelling up strength and stats.

I did it on my last HC run, just for giggles. Slaughtered every last Cuman with a halberd. Fun times. I'd never do it again though lol. Too much prep work levelling up strength and stats.
I tried getting bulked up before leaving Skalitz but it was tedious and I felt broke the storyline for me. I like being the innocent Henry at the start of the game.

I did the same thing in my hardcore run and felt the same way a little. But the thing is that once you play KCD... on hardcore or normal... you can never be innocent again. Your next play-through... on hardcore or normal... will be a little 'familiar.'

Same thing... and a word to the wise... referring to and watching walk-throughs on YouTube. Once the video ends, you can never be innocent nor a free agent..., esp. with regard to that part of the story... again.

Don't do it kids. If you run into confusion and uncertainty come and ask about it here. Most will answer without spoilers if at all possible.
