St. George's sword in hardcore mode.
I thought I'd share with you that this longsword which is without a doubt the best weapon in the game out of ANY category, can still be found in the woods directly north of Ledetchko even though in the wiki it says that it isn't there.

I spent a good portion of my first hardcore playthrough carrying a sword and a mace because I thought it wouldn't be there.

Here it says you can find it where the treasure map points it is (woods north of the town) but not in hardcore mode. I haven't tried it multiple times but my guess is that it will always be there even on hardcore.

In multiple playthroughs in HC mode, it's always been there for me, same place as in Normal mode.

yea it's good sword, but i'll be getting my beloved metal plated battle axe anyway, because THAT is for me the best weapon in game.

I got the one with the spike on top because I was tired of switching between sword and mace but it was less effective against armored opponents than I expected it to be.

This axe is the reason why I went to look for the longsword north of Ledetchko despite what the wiki says.

Roger that. The axes combine but do not outshine neither the slash nor blunt specialized weapons, but i appreciate them for doing well on both fronts, that's my line of thinking. And you can sharpen it like swords for the maintenance perks.

St George's sword, the best? Eh, let's agree to disagree. Even though St Michael's sword does less damage, it ALSO has a lower Strength requirement; 9 to St. George's 22. It also has a higher Durability, True, St. George's Sword is an absolute beast, but it's not the be-all and end-all of swords.

Durability doesn't matter at those levels of damage, you typically kill any opponent with a few hits, even the heavily armored ones and St. George's sword has a very high durability making repairing it with kits very cheap if you don't want to use the grindstone.

As for strength, it's good to level it up anyway as it helps with carrying more weight as well, which means more armor, loot etc, but the strength requirement for the longsword is surprisingly low considering that it's the best all round weapon in the game. The only thing one could point out is that it has extremely low blunt damage, which is to be expected, but its piercing and slashing damage is so high that much of it goes through even the best armor so it doesn't matter.
