how to NOT fail next to godliness?
Got the bouquet came back, walked in and the game said I'd failed??? WTF??

How do you succeed? And if I've failed, what do I do next?

@vine & @Valden21,

Thanks.

My understanding...maybe incorrect...is that successfully completing Next to Godliness would trigger Capon's Champion.

But I have no marker, got no notification, and the quest log shows no quest that would lead me to him. So there's no location marker--nothing on the map, either.

And, as I mentioned before, I waited a day or two for the Tourney (just entered because i like, and need, the practice) and no sign of Sir Hans or any dialogue or notification to find him.

Am I just supposed to go wandering around looking for him in order to start the quest?

You're partially correct. Completing "Next to Godliness" DOES trigger "Capon's Champion", but it doesn't mean that the quests lead right into one another the way they would in other RPGs; story events have to happen between each Capon quest. AFAIK, there's no marker of where to find him until the DLC quests unlock. I found him by accident by going to Lower Pirkstein Castle; soon as I stepped foot within its walls, the star icon indicating a new quest (the yellow star) popped up. I followed it, and it led me to him. Remember to look for the star icon in your compass at the central-top part of the screen; it'll appear there, and nowhere else.

You dont have to come back though. Once you collect all the flowers required it just teleports you into a cutscene.

Yes, but it's when I'm walking in the bath house that it tells me I've failed.

I suspect, I've got to get the wine and collect the flowers before it's gets light.

??

You're supposed to fetch wine as well, Sylvan red iirc? You should bring both together if i'm not mistaken?
Sonya Feb 6, 2021 @ 2:29pm
Um, no.
You get wine and bring it to capon. Then you get the option to get wasted. Only after thst you're even given the objective to collect flowers.
You pick ALL flowers required and get immediately teleported into a cutscene.

And yeah, I would assume you have do it before sunrise, which should be plenty of time.

Well, strangely enough I got the bouquet (listed in my inventory under quest items) but I didn't actively pick sage--I didn't see any where I got the roses and I had some in inventory. that might be it as well. I just looked at a walkthrough and it didn't say anything about a time limit.

I guess it's back to a save game.

The time limit is more implied than anything else. IIRC, all the flowers have to be picked from the garden in Rattay.

Yeah, I think that was it. I didn't really think it was a time limit. At one point, when Sir Hans sends me out for wine, he says they didn't care if it took a week.

But I had picked dandelions and poppys along the way and only picked the roses in the upper castle garden.

Replaying that quest I picked everything in the garden...no problems afrer that.

Thar said, I thought there were a couple other side quests that you could do with Sir Capon that were triggered by this one?

Only partially. True, there are two other quests in this particular quest-chain, but certain events in the main story need to occur before the next Capon quest opens up. IIRC, the main-story quest that opens them up is "Baptism by Fire". The second Capon quest is called "Capon's Champion", and the last one is "Robber Baron". "Robber Baron" is also the quest that unlocks the "The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon" DLC.

Capon's Champion is timed to the next occuring tournament, so Mac don't miss on that like i did :D However.. the reward for the quest is fee covered by Capon (aka you don't pay to enter the tourney anymore) and only 1round to victory (don't know if when you lose 1 round it's a wash for you too :D as i did not do the Champion quest..)

Odd.

Baptism by Fire is way behind me.

After I finished Next to Godliness, there were no prompts or any indication of a next side quest or anything.

So I went off to Ledechko to do Chumps. Stayed overnight and got the notice that the Tourney was the next morning. So I rode back to Rattay. No notification for Capon's Champion or anything.

Won the Tourney and rode back to Ledechko to do some hunting (I'm trying to level up with bow) at a favourite spot.

Just woke up early next morning in Ledechko. Now what? I did / do want to do Capon' Champion. Is there a way to get it started?

Yeah, go back to the Rattay bathhouse in the evening. But this time, Capon won't be in the main building. Instead, he'll be in one of the tents. The icon should appear once you get close to the bathhouse.
vine Feb 6, 2021 @ 10:03pm
I never saw Capon in tents in this quest. He's in the building in the back of bathhouse, where tents are, true that.

I found him in a tent, so apparently, his exact location at the bathhouse can vary. But he IS at the bathhouse, you can be sure of that.
