Is my houndmaster bugged

Regardless of what I do for houndmaster XP. I always get 1. So I would have to feed the dog 108 times in order to go up one level. Or praise it 108 times.

Go to the hunter in Rattay ask him to train you at a price he also sells books.
Feeding mutt and praising him has a very slow level increase process.
Wash your hands afrter all that praising :P

Do you have any mods running? And any that would change skills or anything in KCD? I run plenty of mods myself, but my houndmaster exps without a single problem.
My mods are NoMoSloMo, Bow reticle, UnlimitedSaves, Carry weight mod, Better sorting mod, exact money display, instant herb picking. None of them collide with anything, KCD still works as it should.

I find Mutt to be very high maintenance so I've never had a problem with the pace of houndmaster increase. I'm usually too busy getting on with other things to actively notice the passive thing passively happening.

Are you conscious of the speed of increase because you are specifically trying to max out the skill as soon as possible?

Houndmaster is really really easy and quick to level up, i usually do 5-10 praises and feed him, then after some time again. It levels up really quick if you keep at it.
Which brings to mind the fact that if OP is trying to rush the praising and does it all the time, there is diminishing return on XP. It should be done over some period of time, but is easily the quickest skill to level up, i find. Or perhaps on par with herbalism.
OP are you just praising Mutt all the time over and over and over again? It is stated ingame that you should develop your relation over time, so.. try that?

Then i suggest verify game files, or reinstall. I don't know what else.
