The horse is completely unnecessary. You leave her at Rovna and never see her again anyway. Just hop down the moat and run, turning right towards the quarry. A guard will stop you but you can bribe his greedy butt.
Did you try to get on the correct horse ? He might think you're stealing.................
Another way is to simply get caught stealing. Let them throw you in jail, after which they'll kick you out of Talmberg. Success.
Examine all of the horses slowly and carefully before you take one. Stealing is a really bad idea because you're in plain sight of at least a half a dozen people (maybe more).
If you get the correct horse (the one you rode in on) you should be able to ride it to the gate of the bailey without interference, dismount, have your conversation with the gate guard without problem (assuming you're wearing the correct equipment), and get back on your horse and trot off after he opens the gate.
Just be careful not to trample anyone as you ride through Talmberg. Give everyone a wide berth and don't draw attention to yourself.
Stealing will get you jailed and thrown out ha ha - which is what he wants anyway.
It's not stealing if the owner is dead :') Then it's simply heritage.
