No more random encounters during fast travel

I have no random encounters during fast travel for a long time now, plus the bandits I face in the camps (tho ones that respawn) have low level gear and die almost instantly. I am at the epilogue, almost everything lvl 20 and I just want some challenging fights to max out the combat as well. I googled some topics but all are back from 2018. Now that we have 2021, has this thing been fixed yet?

Edit: I have scout III, does this prevent encounters from happening at all?

I used to avoid a skirmish between Sasau and Mehojed and it pops up pretty often in this particular place no matter what. It's connected to places, if you completed them you could never see it again. I got 20lv too, scout 3. It doesn't matter.

I had this problem for a while, until it just magically started working for me again one day. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my game on a few occasions before, so that might have something to do with it. You can also try verifying your game files, or cleaning your game of any mods and giving it a fresh install.

Have you completed the Ruin sidequest that you can pick up from Captain Bernard? Once you get to the Sasau area the enemies are higher level, that's where you'll fight robber knights in plate armor and the like. Tons of money to be made that way too, although I imagine you're already rich if you're level 20

I have no mods, I have long completed the bandit camp quests, and atm I have 200k+ gold, my Prebislavitz village makes something like 1500 so I do not bother to loot much. I just want some fun and to max my combat skills (not that easy). I will verify files and maybe reinstall. I will let you know!

Sound like you need to go HardCore mode. The fights are much harder, especially against opponents wearing plate. At a certain point, normal mode ceases to be fun as the fights are just way too easy.

The bandits around Skalitz are challenging, and I often run into gangs of well armored bastards on the road NW of Sasau. The road encounters are random, which is why they're fun as you never know what to expect.

Scout will just let you avoid encounters, it does not really affect the odds of having one by itself.

In my experience, Fast travel tends to have far fewer encounters than just riding around, and it also depends on how far you travel, where to, and what path is chosen for you. You may already know that there are designated ambush spots all over the map, but Fast Travel paths only go by a paltry few of these. For example, there are at least four ambush sites on the roads to Vranik, but the Fast Travel routes only take you past maybe two of them.

If you want to encounter more ambushes in any stage of the game, avoid fast travel and just ride to your destination, go the scenic route, take some paths you normally wouldn't. For some challenging ambush encounters, take the road east out of Pribyslavitz or southwest to the Skalitz mines: you can get ambushed at three places right there.

If you're really into challenges, I would also suggest going through Hard Core mode; as mentioned above, the opponents are tougher and the game play is less forgiving. Load up on Savior Schnapps and know your save camps.

Well, playing for days and travelling from one side of map to the other, finding nothing, I guess they got bugged out and started a new game.

Actually, here's a thought for OP. You can just go back through the different saves in your file and hop into one where you haven't done the big fights yet, before you finished Ruin and whatever. If you do Hans Capon's whole questline you encounter the Robber Baron guy if you haven't done that yet

Not all roads have random encounters. So depending on what route the fast travel takes you, you could just be missing them.
Best thing to do is ignore fast travel and travel around yourself. If you know where they are it will be faster.
It doesn't matter what quests you have done or not. You can encounter any of them from waking up in Rattay.
If you want I could list you some good encounter spots.

I had completed both robber baron and interlopers quests. Now in my new game I am getting much more random fights when I am travelling and I am getting 15-20k worth of loot with each sortie near Skalitz and Sassau. I am pretty sure the previous game was bugged.
