Armourer or swordsmith?
When rebuilding Pribyslavit...

On one hand, I suspect that if I am actively engaged taking out bandit camps and looting corpses, the best option might be the armourer. I almost always make the best income on looted armour.

But on the other hand, both Sasau and Ratay have good armourers with lots of groschen. Not sure that an armourer in Prib will have that much at first.

Thoughts?

You can get vendors rich by leaving them extra cash or stuff when you sell gear.
I built the Armourer now in Prib. You can buy a Boar shield with defence 8 which is the highest i've seen ingame. And it looks nice.
If you build the swordsmith you can buy highest Charisma longsword ingame, higher than St. George's.
If you build the Guardhouse and Archery range you can buy Sinew bow - highest dmg bow ingame 82.
Each of the addons (armour or sword) will generate some 750 groshen iirc. Guards will be customers in pub and will spend money there. Tavern is THE place where most money is made.

I prefer the armorer, only in that I typically have to repair my armor much more often than my weapons, and invariably there's always a piece that's far too beat up to repair in the field. Plus, I like having an armorer handy after those arena training sessions when I pick real weapons for sparring.

Personal taste, though; you may like the sword available from your Prib swordsmith. No downside to either, really.

i think Vine gave a great answer. "it depends - and they all have benefits"

i usually go for the armorer since it's easy to get Zach - and i like using the Pryb Shield

in other news - related to selling collected items.

Armor can be sold to Tailors (Clothing Merchants) - and Tailors resell Nightly. Thus, sell them 6k worth of goods on Day 1 (at their reduced purchase amount) - and they will have 6k groschen available on Day 2 - and so on.

Oddly, the Huntsman and Alchemist in Rattay also re-sell nightly - and they buy everything (armor, weapons, food, misc.).

I do a farming run to Skalitz - return to Rattay - and sell 40k+ worth of stuff easily - in at most 2 days (sometimes in one day since they retain their available amounts for a while). Great way to acquire new arrows/bows and new potions, too.

Isn't Zach the fellow that had the dispute with Master Ota? And wasn't there some question of his skill?

I keep hearing people talk about going to Skalitz and getting good loot. Can you be more specifics--like isn't that an 'occupied' area? How do you get in and out?

everything you need to know about building Prib and inviting more artisans is in the wiki posted earlier :)
But yes those two had (will have in my case) a dispute and you can invite both of them, depending on whom you sided with. Zach is the better guy = more groshen.

The Skalitz raids are basically when you get to Skalitz fast travel point, that gate is broken. Up north there's another entrance, with beautiful long road out, which i love abusing. Peek inside from that gate and see cumans and guards or bandits going at it. Wait until one side loses which always ends up leaving you with cumans/bandits to kill. Bait them out with arrows on horse, get one or two follow up the road and snipe or mellee them, and loot everything. Rinse and repeat as much as you want and need and .. go at it now :)

Is Zach the better armoursmith? I occasionally (often in fact) I get beat up so bad I can't repair my own armour. Maybe Mater Ota is the better smith but mostly I want good repair and an armourer that can dole out several K for damaged loot. Sounds like most of that would go back in the Prib chest.

Zach is +70Prague Groschen Ota +10Prague Groschen income in Prib.
Their repair prices will i assume be based on your rep in the village. I just took Zach even before their quest.

BTW, I read that wiki and bookmarked it and am still referring to it. Thanks for that It was really really helpful not withstanding that I had already built the Rathaus.

[Neither here nor there but I just moused over my avatar (which popped up a larger version) and was startled to see that pic again--That's actually me 10- 15 years ago. I hate masks.]]

Yeah he tried to bribe Henry and he's also involved in that counterfeiting business Henry had to uncover. ♥♥♥♥ him

Neither is "better" - but it makes more money at Pryb if you find "Skilled Laborers" from the page Vine linked (down near bottom).

Marius finds a basic skilled merchant to run the shop, but for example, a Master Smith adds gold, and Zach add the most (+70gp).

And Master Ota is a fake - he was afraid of the challenge and offered to pay Henry to cheat.

Ota's armor is inferior in defense but has the highest charisma for chest piece iirc. Zach's armor is very good on the other hand. Not best in slot but good.

So...pretty much made up my mind about it, but if build a swordsmith and get Fink from Sasau, what income will he bring as compared to Zach the armourer?

Also i don't recall getting the Rattled quest during All that Glisters. Is that gonna affect getting Zach or Fink or Ota?

Not directly.
One of the ways to complete All that Glisters leads you to a confrontation with Zach, discovering that he's involved in counterfeiting. Depending on how you solve it you may potentially screw up his disposition towards you, but normally you don't. If you do Rattled in Zach's favor he actually becomes more cooperative.
Nevertheless point is that he's a treacherous bastard and just because of that I personally wouldn't hire him. Even though he brings more money

So Fink brings in 60gr v. 70gr for Zack and 10gr for Ota. Maybe fink would be the best choice?

I thought I went easy on Zach but IIRC he admitted his involvement.

That said, I've never dealt with Zach or sold anything to him. And FWIW, whenever I have my armour repaired, I always talk to the 'artisan' in Ota's shop, never to Ota himself about repairs. Would it be possible to recruit him?

Ota and Zach have a disagreement that is illuminated during your search for the source of the copper sheets. I'm pretty sure that at any time after that, you can return to Zach and start the Rattled quest - but if you don't need an Armor Smith - don't bother.

The Swordsmith i believe has his own side-quest Task for Henry - it's a bit more involved, and thus i've never bothered.

And you can only get one or the other - once you build the Swordsmith Shop, you can't change it to Armorsmith shop.

Oh - and i usually use Blacksmiths for all my repairs and much of my Weapon & Armor sales. They can repair both Armor and Weapons (provided it still has some life left in it) - they buy everything, so for example, you can pay to repair armor, and then sell the the Weapons to get your money back. And, Blacksmiths re-sell good about as quickly as the other smiths, so there's no loss there - only the benefit of having a one-stop-shop.
