Also, I might observe that 1k is not really very much. A really good weapon can cost that much or more. Same with armour. A good horse and tack can cost 3k or more.
Train in two disciplines and you go through 1K quick...particularly at more than basic levels.
Esp. early in the game, accumulating enough money that you don't have to worry if you need (I mean need) something is hard work. It's a full time job.
And having started FTA, frankly, I'm not sure I can keep up with the expenses. Esp. since my next stage in life is to enter a monastery (can't earn anything in a monastery).
All that said, you don't get a house with a bed, until you start upgrading buildings you've already paid to have constructed.
TBH, I'd actually rather stay at Inns--usually there's a bath nearby, food, and companionship and I can pay for my stay (and then some by a wide margin) by playing Farkle. And time to read. Just don't book a room for more than a night.
