multi-enemy combat question
curious if they changed something. when i watch videos covering multiple opponents, theres some space given until able to flank. it seems the AI is WAY overkill on aggression as well as proximity capacity.

when i get into a multi-person fight, the entire group swarms me and stays RIGHT up against me on all sides, even clipping through me if they have to to find a spot (at which point im grabbed from behind as if i had been fleeing and end up being spun around constantly while being hit).

to test this, i went to a town, found a nice corner with a wall behind me, and pissed off the guards. once i was in the corner, they pushed so hard as a group that they clipped through me and through part of the wall so they were able to be adjacent from all sides, and the few that couldnt once there was no more 'room' attacked me literally THROUGH the bodies of the guards in front of them.

ive tried the 'run and take them one at a time' method, but they strike WHILE RUNNING. ive watched them several times run to keep pace while striking, while i have to stop moving to strike.

they didn't change anything no, 1vX has always been trash and will continue to be trash, hopefully they overhaul the combat in KCD 2 if that ever comes

in the meantime if you find yourself outnumbered you can try to abuse chokepoints or mounted combat

thats my point. no matter what i do they are able flank me.

if i run, they run while striking without slowing down, then clip through each other and through my to get flanking positions (and sync speeds during attack animations to make it even more troublesome)

if i stay put somewhere with walls at my back (like i tried at a REALLY sharp corner with only room for me and maybe 2 in front of me), they clip through the walls, through me, and through each other to get flanking positions (or just simply attack through each other when that is too crowded to be doable).

the way the AI acts in the youtube videos like that one is not how they act in my game for some reason (and i dont have ANY mods in use). s'why ive been a bit confused.

i get your problem too. and i found out WHY the other day.

the AI knows that whenever it gets into a CLINCH with henry, it gets a free heal back to full health. so it suicidally charges into you at every oppurtunity to force clinches, so the enemy get to attempt to be functionally immortal. in previous threads i mentioned i had THREE headcrackers on the SAME enemy without the guy dying because of this. so beware the charging ♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemies, they're jsut trying to cheat the game mechanics and exploit a loophole

yep. clinches heal the enemy. cheating ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. its because the game wigs out and can't into a guy dying on you in the middle of a clinch, so the game just free re-sets the enmy every time they clinch you. so if you think your fights are dragging on too long, despite you perfect guarding and riposte-ing and MS-ing. that's why. its the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ clinches

that..... makes eerie sense, since i use clinches to set up enemies for hits (even though they sometimes block or master-strike despite being still mid-stun)

Even if we win the clinch? Cant stand em so Im glad I dont use them"

its the locked-in animation, because the game hasn't got a way for the enemy to die whilst you're clinching, to game cheats and just heals them.

Um. Not at all sure about that. I use the 'blood lust perk' and it doesn't turn off with clinching, nor have I noticed a reset of bleeding injury or of health lost in thousands of fights (lightly modded).

Headcracker doesn't work in a tourney. It does otherwise give a 'zero additional injury' knock out with whatever hit to the head you do, which can include practically no permanent damage at all, if it fires off early, he has stamina (in vanilla) and your weapon is not much above his armour value in attack value.

dont get me wrong, but ur very first who come with this crazy theory.. and noone never see it.. then.. can u show it to us?

its not my theory. it was the answer given to me in another thread. someone started yet another thread pooping on the combat, and someone was talking about how easy it was, that one headcracker was enough to kill anyone. so i replied how i'd just fought some bandits and scored headcracker THREE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ times on the same guy, and he kept refusing to die.

max level stats and skill, and best sword in the game, doing 96 slash and stab, smashed the guys face in three damn times, and he didn't die.,

some one else explained to me it was the clinching.

ok.. then u have proof for that from that person..

for giggles ill try using less clinches then, just to see if it reduces how long the fights seem to go.

so far, even with max stats in defense, warfare, and longsword i still get hit with masterstrikes every 3rd or 4th consecutive attack i make (if not sooner. MS from my first attack isnt uncommon), so ive been using clinches constantly to cause some stuns to sneak in strikes. ive never bothered with combos since even basic peasants in cloth masterstrike me out of them every time (think ive only ever managed a combo once?)

overall the combat system seems optimized for 1v1s despite 90% of the fights being groups..... alas c_c;
