Beggars Feast, Hare Hunting is just stupid
Ok. This is the second time I’ve done this activity and without question, hare are ubiquitous until you accept that first Beggar’s Feast task to hunt them, at which point they disappear off the face of the earth.

I’m spending real world hours running around looking for rabbits. Even with Mutt, I don’t see any. Pretty broke. it doesn’t make sense internal to the game worlds logic and it’s not fun either. Pain in the ass and boring actually.

They pop up if you shush and stop moving in locations. I never had problem with them other than few minutes running and then sneaking or standing still, looking 360 around. Then move some, walk a bit, stop, listen, and so. I mean it..

And you mean literally after starting the Beggars Feast activity, you never had trouble?

I see rabbits all over the place all the time, until statting this quest. :/.

I know, i can't believe it's just my game that does this but not many others seem to have noticed. This person ran across the same issue earlier this year: https://steamcommunity.com/app/379430/discussions/0/1743394125904582330/

Seriously, let me know. Because no kidding, the friggin' disappear when I do the quest. I've spent a few real world hours romping around looking for one.

so i booted up current save, Beggars Feast quest for me is hunting deer now. Let's see if i can get to the first stage.
vine Oct 9, 2020 @ 3:04pm
so about half an hour to hour testing. see https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198028610409/screenshots#scrollTop=0

I tried first the forest around the executioner South of Rattay, but the hills are steep, no hare. Next day i went to almost the place where we hunted with Capon, and chose the forest aound Inn in the Glade, and almost right away they started spawning. One pair of ears managed to hide and escaped. It's about lowering noise as much as possible, i wear as little to have noise level of 4. Walk a bit, stand still for a while, keep looking around, then walk or run some and repeat. Easy seriously. Just pick the right spots.

Ive been killing cumans in the town questlines and immediately after fighting, rabbits are appearing everywhere and Im in full plate gear, lol.
True, Capon does not unequip armour either.. my mind roleplayed me into that now :D
Very likely the first time i played the quest with Capon I did hunt in full chunk chunk magitek armour.

I have stealth 7, and noise is 16, though I don’t think that matters to be honest.

I’m on game day four of creeping through woods looking for rabbits. And I have Mutt! Henry, well Mutt actually, only got one hare. And Mutt took down a deer as well.

How the heck can something like this be bugged just for some?

Well, that’s kind of what I was curious about. Is the relative disappearance of the hare/rabbits an intended feature if this activity, or is something haywire with mine?

In any case, it took until about day three (or four), in-game time and hunting with Mutt, before the game presented me with more than one rabbit a day. Friggin’ weird. I think that’s about how long it took the first time I did this activity as well.

The hares are so ubiquitous in this game I literally run over them while walking through the woods.

Anyway, here's my own routine and fave locations, all near Rattay, so you don't have to go wander all over Bohemia...

1. Dress the part - all quiet gear, soft shoes, fuzzy socks, you get the idea. Dark and stealthy.

2. South of Rattay, go to the farm where Elishka's in-laws live (that wretched old hag and her ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ husband, remember?) Take that path up into the woods past the two gardens, keep going south into the woods till you get up into the flats and meadows. Wander west to east and back, they spawn all over the place, try and wait in the clearings.

Protip: There's a camp back there that will have a few types of meat, including hare. Sometimes there's a poacher at the camp guarding it. Beat him up and take his meat if you like.

3. Woods southeast of Rattay past the bandit camp - go up behind the bandit camp following the path, you'll run into a poacher's blind there, keep going past and south, then east toward the ravine. Rabbits all over the place, and deer and even a hart. You can beat up that poacher and take his meat, too.

4. East of Rattay - going on the road past the bandit's camp, keep going and cross the river right at the road fork, head east along the river until you see huge boulders on the southern river bank, find a route between them and go south into the woods, they slope up until you get to poacher camp in a small ravine, which is to the west of a boar hunting site. Go into the woods south of it, ground levels off and you'll find hares, roe deer, and a nice little surprise if you pay attention.

Protip: This poacher camp will sometimes have a trader that sells you maps n' such. Don't beat up that guy. Buy something nice and send him on his way.

And finally, most important of all, when you are traveling through the woods, go slow, watch and wait - for whatever reason, the spawns tend to lag behind your arrival to that map space, so patience and a little awareness are key in hunting anything. Just the way it is, man.

Follow these tips and you'll bag all the meat you need for Alex. Or anyone who wants some tasty forest vittles.

God be with ye, pard'.

To quote Bernie when you’re first learning combos and keep messing up, “No, no, no! That’s not it!” Lol

Yes, that’s my point:

I only saw one other person mention this same issue.

I just experienced something similar but with boar!

I am doing an activity for the tanner in Talmberg, and he needs boar skins. I have the requisite hunting perk, I think it’s “tanner” , and already brought him a deer skin. (Plus anytime I kill a rabbit or sheep I see the skin as a portable item)

So I went to a boar spot in the woods, and brought down two boars with about two or three arrows each. I went to loot them, and all I saw were the arrows and meat, no skins! On either animal!

This game totally messes with you when you try to do the hunting activities.

I saw other Henries have run into similar problems, so maybe it’s a random thing. But I really though that, once you have the tanner perk, you can skin anything anytime.
