It's a pagan idol and when you find the first one you unlock a codex entry on medieval European paganism.
And the symbol that you found on the tree I think indicates that a bandit camp is nearby.
If you noticed Skyrim had stacks of rocks, sometimes also with a small flag flapping (if really important to story line) just beside the road marking trails or something interesting close by.
About that Stacks of rocks, or rock piles, what are those meant to be in the KCD game?

I have some knowledge about Perun and that was what I thought at first glance when i stumbled uppon those statues/idols, but I wasn't sure.
