PS: pay attention to the final disguise. It contains none of the ♥♥♥♥ you were collecting...
Not necessarily--many civilians would've heeded the screams to "RUN!" and did not actually see the enemies attacking the city. They also may not remember clearly, because it was a sudden attack and hugely traumatic incident.
As for the quest... you either enjoy doing strange and sometimes seemingly pointless tasks, or you don't like this game much! LOL There's a lot of quests like that.
This quest is for the fun of it. If you do it early, that weightless helmet could come in handy until you get a tougher helmet. I also got a chuckle wearing the costume to the camp when I "scouted" it. By scouting, I mean going in and slaughtering each and every enemy in the camp--and I imagined the fright or shock the Cumans had when they saw sadistic Henry killing them or their gang members. What if they thought the Devil himself had come for them? :D
What was the point of the quest? To have fun--pretty light-hearted--and to experience more of Henry's friendship with them. It gives us more insight into the characters, helping you determine how you feel about the friends from Henry's life before Skalitz was razed. (And the collector's items are fun to have--if you collect certain things, anyhow. I collect anything given to me by NPCs, among a few other things.)
And this of course.
Would be nice to know that. I just used some common Cuman outfits so far...
Turns out you can! I walked right through the Cuman camp, with the disguise and helmet on. So long as you pass the speech checks. Guards must think you're that one soldier that just likes to accessorize?
Turns out you /cannot/. I rode up to the bridge and the guard halted me. There IS no speech check. How the hell would you answer someone whose language you don't speak anyway? So I tried just riding through, but of course, that only works for the next 30 secs. After that, you have the entire camp at your heels. I even went at night just in case the NSCs had visual penalties like the player does. Didn't help me either.
You CAN, however, just ride /through/ the camp and "scout" it that way. If your horse and your riding are good enough, AND you rememer how to find the bridge, you can escape that way.
But the thing that really bummed me out about this quest was that the planned raid on the Skalitz scavengers was off. No mention of it even! I collected all these stupid items only with the intention of dressing up as a cuman and whopping some bandit butt. All for nothing.
