Question regarding shield on back
I am quite content playing with a two handed sword, but I was wondering if you get an advantage for having a shield:Eagle_Eye: on your back while wielding a two handed sword. Can it reduce damage from behind, both from melee and ranged attacks. Will it effect my longsword in a negative way even if I just keep the shield on my back? I am not worried about the additional weight, mostly use my horse to carry everything I need anyway.

A quick and informative response is appreciated.

Pretty sure if you have a shield equipped, any sword you wield will only be wielded in one hand.

Longswords are only 2 handed when you don't equip a shield.

So you cant just keep the shield on your back while wielded a great sword with two hands?
I have noticed that while I was shooting someone in the back (don't judge!) my arrow hit their shield and they were protected. I would say that the same applies to you. Possibly from a sword slash too.

In combat, see if someone attacks you from behind. If you hear the weapon 'bop' against you with a wooden sound, then indeed your shield has defended you.

But as stated, the shield will only be on your back if you are using your bow. Otherwise you will draw it when you draw your sword.
