Is there a glitch equipping a weapon (PC Platform)?

I have Sir Radzak's sword (Quest item) and I purchased an Axe.
I have both in my inventory and when I press the "E" key they appear on the illustration in my inventory, indicating that they are equipped.
When I go to fight anyone I show no weapons in my hands. I have tried to use the "1" key to equip melee weapon. No good.
I left and right click the mouse (no middle mouse button), but all I end up doing is trying to punch or kick (key "F") to no avail.
I am sure that I am just overlooking something incredibly simple.
How do I equip and use either of my weapons?

Are you by any chance crouching? Because you can't seem to draw melee weapons when crouching.

Also make sure you're not sprinting either because that prevents you from drawing a weapon as well.

Just tap '1' to bring out the weapon. Holding '1' will bring out a torch if you have one.

Well, the "1" worked for me this time. Not sure why It did not, before.
