I haven't had too much problem with them. Shield and hammer works well - it makes short work of armoured opponents, works well against unarmoured still, and the shield is a reasonable passive defence against arrows and even a few hits from melee weapons.
Alternatively train more with the longsword and use 'fehler' to open the opponent's guard and strike the face. It is a nice easy device to use - an unterhau from the left, followed by two thrusting actions, (interpreted once you know the device into a Zwerchau or possibly Zerkel to quickly strike both sides of the face). You could also use the scheilhau (short edge cut) to the head, as taught by Captain Bernard, but I find it less reliable.
Using position and place to keep the attacked opponent between his allies and you and it is quite possible to fight against multiple opponents. Better to move sideways - and target the nearest opponent, than to try to walk backwards faster than they can run forwards though. Using stealth to attack sleeping enemies, shoot people in the back etc can reduce the number of opponents to fight. Poisoning food or wine during the night and waiting till after 'breakfast' can also be a huge help, but you need to be careful not to wake people with noisy armour or clumsy approach.
1)You dont have to fight all the bandits at once. Run from them until only 1-2 are pursuing you, then fight them, them chase rest and kill 1 by 1.
2)You can use stealth. Undress (Yes, remove all that metal crap and clothing you wearing, you do not need it), and sneak on them 1by1, finishing each off with a sword after knocking them unconscious from stealth. After lvl 5 Stealth you won't even need a sword, just a dagger will do
P.s. You got so far in story and still level 6 with crappy gear? omg
Last bandit quests are north of Sasau, and last camp has 8 full plate/brigandine robber knights.
If you spend all arrows, sabre from horseback on full gallop will insta kill even full brigandine knight :).
Hope this helps!!!
The main bandit camp is north of Talmberg, it is called Prybyslavits or something. There are like 30 bandits in it, including Raubritters in full plate, Cuman Lords (wearing Cuman Lord armor), etc. Nothing a good halberd can't chop, trough.
I definitely raged on this quest lol. it's over now, i'm all better
Well full Cuman gear is no crappy armor. With basic Cuman gear and average shortsword you should be able to kill most of the opponents with ease. I think the problem is you didn't have much practice on how to move in combat...don't worry, you'll learn soon enough.
Main advice - dont afraid to kite, run away and then go back. Tactical retreat is not shameful, dont try fighting 5-6 men head on( if you're not feeling super confident with ur weapon) and then loading save again and again. Instead, kite them - AI is stupid as a stump in this game so its easy to take advantage of them.
