Okay, but it's not really a Roleplaying game, is it?
From everything I've seen of this game so far it's not a roleplaying game. It seems to be a story driven adventure game. Sure it's open world and you can complete parts in different ways. But, and I admit this may just be me, a roleplaying game is a game where I can play the role of a character I choose and indeed play a different one in different playthroughs.

In Kingdom Come the main character seems to be very well defined, he has a fixed back story, a fixed appearance, more or less fixed approch to the world. He is a very likable, interesting progatogist, but he's not mine to play as I want.

Anyway, just something that bugs me. Call it what it is and be proud of it. Don't pretend it's something that it isn't.

It's definetely an RPG buddy, I guess I see your points tho but that doesn't mean it's not an RPG.

So Mass Effect, The Witcher and Dragon Age 2 arent 'real rpgs'?
Hold on, let me write this down.
I get what you're saying but you'll have a hard time getting past that 1st question.

You are playing a role, just not one you created, if you want to look at it that way.

Well there is some deviation (is he a murdering scumbag or a noble sort) that is decided by the player.

Guess it is how one defines Role Playing Game. I mean technically you are playing a role, in a game, you are just playing the role of Henry rather than one's own protaganist.

I get your point though

You are trolling, right...

Sure, there are plenty of RPG games that do not have a customizable character. Are you saying that the Gothic series, the Witcher series, the Mass Effect games, etc are not role playing games?

In this game you play the role of Henry who is the son of a blacksmith living in 13th century Bohemia. How is that not role playing?

I think you're confusing role playing with character customization.

All personal feel to the player. Hard to define, I find RPG to be immersive as important. Did I have any emotion while playing, did I relate, did I feel good or bad for robbing the knight whatever the case may be it still comes down to how you feel about it.

On those lines, Baldurs Gate is also an adventure game; Main character is already defined, has a fixed background, etc etc

But its ur problem thinking its something else than RPG...

Funny then, actually Icewind dale (which to me is more of an action gam) is more RPG than buldur's gate since those chars have no backstory or anything apart from what the player decides. Interesting

OP means like real roleplay, like pen and paper or something wher eoyu create your character yourself from scratch and only get a gameworld to play in.

but yes, thats not wwhat most will understand today.

Where tf do people get the idea that a role playing game has to be one where you play a character not already predefined? This is NOT the definition of an RPG so where is this crap coming from?

Not saying it is, but saying by the OP's implied definition it is.

Ladies and gentlemen, i present to you the Generation that never played baldurs gate1, and dont know what a true RPG means (consequences, reactions From people if you smell or are dirty, choices)

the more my Henry is different character then yours the more it's an RPG :) I would say it's on par with a Witcher. And since you are making decisions and living with concequences it's more RPG then an adventure (unlike Tomb Raider, which is the opposite)

Well if you're born after 1990 you think Skyrim was the 1st RPG ever created...and it had character customization...so that must be how all RPGs have to be...I dunno
