Difficulty towards mid-end game
The early game portion of my current, and first playthrough was fantastic, the combat was hard, fighting multiple enemies at once was near impossible, the lockpicking and stealth was hard but fair and I absolutely fell in love with the game. Sure it had some bugs, some minor and some game breaking but now I'm to a point where everything is extremely easy. I'm a few hours after the fight with Runt and the only way I could ever die is to invincible enemies. I went through Rattay and killed every person. I only died when the guard captain and Nightingale were the only one's who could stop me and they could only stop me because you literally cannot attack them, an x comes up cancelling your arrow or sword swing when it would connect with either of them. So what I'l really asking is if there's a mod or something similar that either makes the game harder by increasing armor vaules and decreasing the amount of money you can make, or by scaling enemies to closer fit the character?

TL;DR Game is a cake walk after the early game, looking for ways to make it harder without gimping myself.

right now i'm playing with axe, it doesn't have any stabs, so you really need to fight ppl =) Also I don't steal at all, so my money goes from bandits loot and hunting.

also I want to try this mongoloid type of fight:
archery (without any mods and dots) + hunter type of sword + light/no armor

completely agreed

Agreed. Unbeknown to me, I already had end game equipment before I got to Runt.

I've taken to roaming in a brigandine set now. It isn't overpowered like my full plate set in combat (it can soon see you dead against multiple plate enemies) it has a low vis/con rating and minimal noise. So I look to use stealth kills, archery (rarely) and alchemy to improve my advantage, rather than being a dps sponge. It is more fun and provides a challenge.

hmm sounds like the usual

It's because the game simulates the range of combat skill from peasant to combat master. Mid-game if you've trained and done a fair amount of combat you're getting pretty close to level 20 in many combat skills - 20 is master.

killed Runt with 2 stabs XD

Yea, after you get good set of armour and learn how to use your main weapon, the game is a piece of cake

Go back and replay the beginning now that you know how everything works. The combat system really falls flat once you realize that it comes down to gear and XP just like every other RPG out that... add to the fact that's entirely possible to arrive in Rattay with full armor, sword and shield, plenty of food, and enough gold to immediately train yourself to around 7 in Warfare, Strength, Agility, Defence, and sword making the first half of the game as trivial as the second, and you realize just how stupid and pathatic everyone telling you to "git gud" actually was. The more I play this game the more I realize it's a mile wide and an inch deep, it difficulty mostly comes from lying to you about how difficult it is.

Yeah, i would really like a hard mode, or atleast something that would make enemies take some more hits, most of the time 2 stabs is enough even for armoured enemies

I rather like it. Best combat system I've ever encountered in a RPG, even the Witcher 3 is inferior to it.

Where it falls down is what the op noted - but if you can use mods or console to keep your level low the game can be challenging in combat all the way through.

IRL a combat master in full plate was an unstoppable tank, the game simulates that.

It's been hard for me.
But then again I'm an honorable man and I don't steal.
Have not picked one lock. Didn't even do the lockpick tutorial.
Honor is honor..not pick and choose.

nexusmods has a mod that increases the difficulty :)
