will stolen flag go away when i wear it?

i dug up some treasur from a treasure map, the good stuff is a breastplate and a shortsword mainly, ovcourse it is stolen.
will the flag go away when i wear it on me over time or do i have to do something else to remove the flag? like store in my storage chest?

Take them to a fence otherwise if you get stopped they will take everything you have stolen including what you are wearing.

The redflag will disapear after a set time (depending on the value of the item?). I usually just pop everything in my horse/chest until its unflagged - if its armor/weapon u want to use, put it into your horse and only wear it outside of towns/villages, if its anything else, store it in your chest.

I once had a chestpiece with value of ~1,8k and it got unflagged after ~2,5days ingame. I did not wait/sleep for that time but played normally, so no idea if that has something to do with that

All flags eventually go away... but if you travel far away from the theft location, you'll be able to sell them. Don't bother with fences... you won't make enough.

The stolen flag will go away after awhile, the more expensive the item the longer it takes. If it is on YOU and the guards search you, you are in trouble.

however if you keep it on your horse (or drop it before being searched) you should be ok.

in rattey i can muscle the guards into not searching me by now. i got searched plenty of times before, but by now i pass the martial speech check every time with them.
i only get ever searched in ratty, they have been gunning for me. order of his lordship they say.

so i dont fear the searches so much anymore, but to be save i still want to get rid of the flag. thanks for the tips

I think you rep with guards affects the chance. They kept searching me for awhile (I had no stolen goods but my rep had gone down to like 30 or so)

do illegal quest like poaching and thieving in and around rattay, sell your illegal stuff in rattay, your reputation with the guards should quickly drop and they will search you.

Speaking of horse, when I put stolen items in my horse, it unflagged them. I assume that is a glitch, and havent tested it to see if it reoccurs.

i was like weaseling through rattey in order to get to the shops and sell and get back out before a guard just search me for ♥♥♥♥♥ n giggles. rly i think they be gunning for me, however i did rob a bit of stuff early game and tried to sell in rattey, so i guess its connected to that.
they found stuff quiet a few times on me, now they just routine search me almost everytime i am around the weaponsmith/armorer area where i usually sell stuff in rattey.

as said i picked up the treasure now which is stolen, and i should be able to muscle my way out of the search as that worked the last 3 times, however you never know so i wana get rid of the stolen flag on my treasure.

Shouldn't happen immediately, but over time flags clear. Also in a saddlebag.
