i believe it indeed needs to be in the chest, let me check i restarted the game doing that mission atm

Oh no! I loaded. And I was so sly! I made the dogs bark at me, and ran around the fence and went in from the back. He was standing with the dogs and had left the door open. I snuck in and hid and waited for him to sleep. And I succeeded in picking the lock, though I'm really bad at it.
Now I have to do it all again, and I bet I will not be so lucky this time :-) Anyway, thanks a lot for the swift answer

Ehhm no? In my game the ring was there and after that I was told to bring the ring to another miller which I did. Strange to hear that it was different for you.

Also to OP, there are many chests in and around the building. I'm not sure if the ring is always in the same chest, but for me it was in the first chest to the left of the door in the room where the executioner is sleeping in (I did it during night time).

Yes, morph that was the one. There were some clothes and a cudgel, but no ring. I looked in inventory for quest items, in case I had taken it with some of the other stuff I stole.. I mean borrowed. I meant to put it back ofc. Thanks guys. I'll try again.

yeah i Fd up the lockingpicking again XD so i rage quit haha still like the game tho but i can confirm what is said there is a ring indeed and you need to bring it to another miller

I feel you. I both love and hate this game. I must love it more than I hate it though, because I keep coming back. My framerate is about 30. It doesn't make things easier.

Lockpicking is overly hard to get used to. I've found some success in keeping my position by concentrating on scratches and bumps in the lock texture in order to keep on target, works most of the time with the easyish locks.

I've decided to save my proper thief playthrough till everythings patched up a bit. Playing a good guy this time.

i talked to him and the program respond for me without asking before "i am not interested in the ring" , since then i cant get it whatever i do, i think about to just kill this Pignoob and his 3 dogs , program buggy? just kill them all...., this gaim....
