Ok, so i pushed myself with Bard's Potion, Alcohol and a perk and 16 vs 14 is still not f*cking enough?! What the actual sh*t. Is this one of those "supposed to get f*cked up the *ss by the AI because its more dramatic" again?

Yeah, but why the ♥♥♥♥ do we even have a stat in it then? And it doesn't seem to be a dice roll either, because i retried like 15 times already.

the game is vary railroaded a lot of checks are made to fail. you would only notice if you had the save mod tbh

I am just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ infuriated, because i have spent multiple hours grinding speech only to then the game having to tell me "Yeah, but like, your stats? Yeah...well, they are kinda more like a suggestion"

Epitome of bad design: implying stat based system, even exposing stats, but hiding the mechanics, then cheating in the background. Sorta like Maldon the Assassin :)

I think some lines will always fail despite skill by some reasons. There was a mention about it in tutorial. Why did blacksmith not believe that indro is a blacksmith's son though... I guess he's really zealous about protecting his secrets.

Nobleman's clothes. As in - literally. I took a nobleman down and used his set.

All about this quest is just like a fat, steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ on a perfect wedding cake. Like, yeah, the rest of the cake / game are good, but this steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ is kinda ruining it. The Custodian is:

1. Immortal
2. Untargetable
3. Can't be beaten in dialogue
4. Can't be dealt in any way before apparently.

I believe you have to take your charisma and reputation in line with speech not just speech by itself

Sometimes you have to say the right thing, not just what ever is the higher stat score. Sometimes it has to make sense in the context and be the right thing, rather than the highest thing. If that makes sense.

Different approaches work on different people. You won't intimidate a tough brawler easily and no matter how well you dress, you won't impress the nobility easily.

It's not just about the stats though: The outcome is influenced by other factors, e.g. your reputation, wheter you are dirty or bleeding etc. If you can't outdo the nimble tongue of a merchant try poisoning him first and then he will be easier to persuade. Or if you lead a guard away from his friends he'll be easier to intimidate.

Maybe you need 100 rep or to be dressed as a knight.

Could be your character is too ugly or dirty. get some Charisma?

Each character is affected by the type of speech too. Not just the number. Even though you "outrank" them doesn't mean they fall for it. For example, I had run through a conversation with a woman three times (each choice as an option) and she only bowed down to the hostile physical threat (swords). So some just are engrained not to succeed. By choice or poor development.
