Optimized Graphics Settings 1440p
So I see a lot of people struggling with framerates in this game with decently powerful hardware. It can certainly use some optimization but in the meantime I wanted to share what I've learned so far.

I have a powerful system so your results may vary, but I've found the biggest frame rate killers to be lighting, shader quality, shadows, and volumetric effects detail.

I realize most people don't have a system like mine but if I can get 120fps than maybe someone with less powerful hardware can get a nice smooth 60fps. Especially if you drop the resolution to 1080p or even 900p.

My system:
i7-7700k @4.8Ghz
1080Ti @ 2025 Mhz
32Gb DDR4 @ 3200 Mhz CL16
SATA III SSD

All my testing was done in 1440p FULLSCREEN mode

(note: the game loves to switch you from fullscreen to borderless anytime you alt-tab or minimize the game window. It's super annoying but make sure you're in fullscreen mode, it will help your frame rate.)

Playing in full ultra mode I get 50-60 fps

My settings: If I drop lighting to VERY HIGH, and shader quality, shadows and volumetric effects detail to HIGH I get 70-90fps average.

Here are my optimized settings from Nvidia Geforce Experience, with these I get 100-120fps. The draw distance is minimized by default but you can adjust it and see what works well for you:

Object Quality, Game Effects, Lighting, Particles: VERY HIGH
Physics, Post-Process Quality, Shader Quality: HIGH
Shadows, Textures: MEDIUM
Water Detail, Volumetric Effects Detail, Vegetation Detail: HIGH
Object Distance, LOD Distance, Vegetation Draw Distance: 5% (1 bar)
Motion Blur: OBJECT

I do notice a difference between my settings and my nvidia optimized settings but it's not huge and it's mainly in the vegetation. Maybe it can be improved by raising the draw distance, I haven't tried that.

I made a video after doing my experiments which pretty much just explains everything I've just said but feel free to check it out if you want:

Hope this helps someone. Love the game, can't wait for some patches.

Textures usually need VRAM and I tested this. There is no difference in FPS between Ultra High and Medium except that textures do not look very well. While moving in Rattay I get 90-125fps with a 1080Ti at 1440p. So I capped the FPS to 90 and I'm fine with that.

My settings:

Object Quality: Very High
Game Effects: Very High
Lightning: Very High
Particles: Very High
Physics: High
Post-Process Quality: Medium
Shader Quality: High
Shadows: Medium
Texture Quality: Ultra High
Water Detail: High
Volumetric Effects: High
Vegetation Details: High
