The very first quest in the game is broken
The first quest involves collecting the debt from Kushner, or however his name is.

If the player fist-fights with him, after winning the fight, Kushner gives the player the key for his chest inside his house, and tells the player to take what's in side, saying it's all that he has.

Inside the chest are the hammer and nails that Kushner owes payment for.

The game gives the player an objective after winning the first fight, to find something of Kusher's worth selling to pay for the debt of the hammer and the nails.

If the player goes into his house and takes back the hammer and the nails, the objective to find something worth selling isn't yet fulfilled. If the player also takes the axe outside, then the objective to find something worth selling fulfills.

Similarly to taking just the hammer and nails, if the player takes only the axe outside (and not the hammer and nails), the objective of 'find something worth selling' doesn't fulfill. The player must take the axe that's outside, as well as the hammer and nails from inside, in order for the objective of 'find something worth selling' to fulfill.

Now, here's where the problems start:

If the player takes the hammer and the nails back, why would they be looking for anything further to sell? They took the items back that Kushner owed the player's dad for, and so he wouldn't owe him anything anymore, and so it wouldn't make any sense to still be looking for something to sell after taking the hammer and the nails.

Secondly, if the player takes the hammer and the nails as Kushner tells the player to, they're listed as stolen in the player's inventory, and they can't be sold in the town - which defeats the purpose of taking them to sell them. But, why are they listed as stolen? They aren't stolen, since Kushner tells the player to take them to get rid of his debt, and gives the player the key to open the chest to take them. So, they shouldn't be listed as stolen.

1. You "need" to sell them to get the money for charcoal and beer.
2. Didn't had this one in my game. that's weird.

Just take the hammer, nails and axe.

Problem solved.

I did not see that issue at all. Still don't think it's an issue.

take the axe outside the house

The problem in your logic is that he still owes your father for all three items. You father tells you to get payment for the 'Tools' at the very least. 'Tools' would imply the Hammer and the Axe. So at the very least you should have to take the Hammer and the Axe. Your little test doesn't include taking just those two items.

I just realized that the debt was also for the axe. So, it then does make sense to have to take the axe.

However, that doesn't explain the hammer and nails being listed in my inventory as stolen after Kushner tells me to take them. And I couldn't sell them - the shopkeeper asked me if I was trying to get him in trouble when I tried to offer them.

Such a huge post yet you didn't read your Quest Log. Kunesh "bought" on debt an Axe, Hammer, and Nails. Since he doesn't have the money to pay you, you have to either beat him in a fight, or steal the three items. After you have the items in question, you then sell them at a Trader (don't forget you can haggle to make more grochens).

P.S. Sorry if that came off as rude, just find it funny and facepalm worthy when your frustrations are due to not carefully reading. Good luck.

this should not happen.

Yeah, I got that now. That still doesn't explain the hammer and nails being listed as stolen and unable to be sold. I'm guessing that might be a bug?

True... I was able to sell them without issue.

Sounds like it... I didn't experience that nor did I see it happen in any gameplay footage I saw.

It's a stupid way... but have you tried a new game? as it's the very first mission you won't loose much time. But as the same problem exists with the meat you hunt with a noble i guess it's a constant bug :(
Selig Feb 17, 2018 @ 9:08am
Not sure if this is a thing... But maybe when you looted the chest you were crouched, so the game thought you were trying to "steal" somthing you didn't need to?

Worse case scenario, you just start over/reload from last save (you are still very early so there should be much to redo up to that point). I know that can be annoying to have to do but let's just hope a similar issue doesn't happen later on.

The meat is meant to be that way. I believe it was in some of the lore the devs added, but at the time the game takes place, a simple peasant can't just wonder into the woods and kill something for food. Hunting was enjoyed as a hobby by nobles or as a duty by the Huntsmaster. Meat was mainly restricted to nobles only.

Long story short, you are poaching, therefore you ARE stealing the meat. :steamhappy:
Apop85 Feb 17, 2018 @ 9:20am
Im not talking about poaching in common. I'm talking about a particular quest where you get the permission to hunt from a noble but the meat is still marked as stolen. This is why i guess its a constant bug which you cant avoid until it get patched beacuse it happens in 2 quests where it shouldn't

It's the quest with Hans where you have to hunt some rabbits
