(Whether you did the crime or not, word spreads lol)
If you come across someone looting a corpse on the road and accuse them, they might get scared and pin it on you (or try to) did anything like that happen?
but if you are certain you didnt do anything, it might be something simple like walking around an area you are not supposed to be in (the fine is usually around 15 g).
or maybe you killed an animal in front of witnesses?
edit:
@krustnonika
iam pretty sure it does expire (at least most stuff. not sure about multiple homicide)
i did that in ledetschko and after quite a while the bounty disappeared
I don't think the NPCs forget. They may be willing to forgive though.
the huntmaster in rattay wont teach me anything because i knocked him out years ago (even though he shouldnt have realized that it was me).
but the bounty system is a seperate issue i think.
I accidentally held down E instead of just pressing E and pickpocketed the bath lady in front of everyone.
just stash or sell your stolen stuff before.
This makes sense if you're caught, but honestly it makes no sense if you manage to get away and still have to wait, what's the point of being a thief then ?
I agree one should have to wait weeks in-game time if you're caught, but it makes no sense at all to have it when you manage to escape, then it's simply not worth doing it.
Now being a thief is not easy as it is, i think if you manage to get away you should avoid having paying for it imo.
Because the entire marketing pitch for this game is that its a realistic living world and your actions have consiquences. This is what you sign up for if you choose to be a thief in KCD. If you stole stuff in real life, at no point would it stop being stolen.
Everything was going fine.
I return to town to get some rest at the inn eventually...
Turns out when one of them saw me fighting the other it was pinned as a crime...
I went from 100 citizen rating down to 26, and I have the "wanted" debuff whenever I get close to the city.
I've been mostly lawful my entire game, only killing animals in the forest, but not looting them (for bow skill).
Generally well liked all across the board.
Can I fix this somehow, without paying all my money in fees or tainting my good name?
Edit:
For anyone coming to this post later.
I've managed to get rid of the wanted level by dressing in my finest attire, taking a bath and clothes wash in another town. Finally top it off by drinking Amor Potion to boost my charisma as high as I can. Walk up to a guard in the town in question and try to use the "heart" talk option to push the guard into his place (in short, "scaring him" with nobility).
I no longer have the wanted marker, but the citizens still hate me.
I'll just have to work my way up from that over time.
Still a bit annoyed that people in the fight club take other people in the fight club fighting together as a crime...
