Silky smooth, well almost. System.cfg share.
I've spent way too much time tweaking this game instead of enjoying it about half of the time logged...

Thought I'd share my result. I now seem to have almost silky smooth game, no popping trees etc. Even smaller dips around the swordsmith in Rattay 5 fps instead of 30. The trade off is a noticable load after fasttravel. A small price to pay.

I started by finding good settings overall for my system wich ended up rangeing from medium to ultra. @1080p
Then I played around with e_StreamCgfPoolSize and ended up with 1024. It presented less pops. From there I added the SSD fix from pcgamingwiki. And since I had less pops with e_StreamCgfPoolSize=1024 I tested increasing viewdistance. And ended up with e_ViewDistRatio 200 and e_ViewDistRatioVegetation 250.

I tested, daytime forest, Rattay day and night before posting this.

Dont forget to change the SSD speed in the config to match your system!

Hope it helps!

1.2.5 (Proper patch)
Just change version number to match and you are good to go.

1.2.2 (Rollback)
Just change version number to match and you are good to go.

1.2.5 (Faulty patch)

Looks fine after a quick test. I have increased the settings a bit on grass and shadows I think. It's still smooth most of the time. Outside the swordsmith in Rattay is still a big dip and even worse with rain. :steamsad:

Here it is:

And here is the user.cfg:

https://pastebin.com/C5fAcqa9

Put +exec user.cfg in launch options and it will execute automatically. There are some extra commands here if it slows down or if you don't like it just remove from the bottom up. Refer to the sources if puzzled. Might have to change CPU numbers if you don't have HT.

Enjoy!:steamhappy:

<1.2.5
Here is my tweaked system.cfg

I run +exec user.cfg in my launch options and execute the file when I have loaded a save since viewdistance defaults to 200 otherwise.

e_ViewDistRatio 200 e_ViewDistRatioVegetation 250

Edit:
Comment about SSD speed.
Removed leftover comment with wrong size for sys_budget_sysmem.
Copy paste post about 1.2.5 and added source for extra commands in user.cfg.
Restructured post.
Updated with instructions for the new patch.
Cleared up what patch is what.
Edited comment about user.cfg.

I like all the developement comments in the cfg. I wonder if they ever meant to be pushed to live. They read like some inhouse stuidio stuff thats meant for the devs not the users. Sry of ot. :D

Can't copy it properly when I copy it it messes up the formatting and doesn't work, can you upload it somewhere and share the link?

Most of this is identical to the default system, but I noticed you killed off the merged meshes as far as you could (don't like grass, eh?) and all that stuff with texture streaming might prove useful.

Here you go: https://pastebin.com/ZTJux4gJ

You could just copy it in the folder and add the tweaks and make sure it works with your system. SSD speed etc.

Nope, allergies. :P

I went for acceptable at gallop and don't usually see the edge when walking.

Changes I made that are not from ingame are detailed in the beginning.

why you dont use r_vsync 0 command? that one got rid of all stutter and lag for me, the game now runs so smooth.

Tearing. And it did not help with the low viewdistance and fast tree pop ups.

so, to reduce popups, i should use these as i understood, right?

e_StreamCgfPoolSize=1024
e_ViewDistRatio 200
e_ViewDistRatioVegetation 250.

Yes, thats what I use. You should tweak them to fit your taste and system though. http://steamcommunity.com/app/379430/discussions/0/2860219962081819052/?ctp=4#c2860219962090690898

Well after testing this and having to long loading times if replaced the cfg with my old one and is still have insane loadingtimes when i enter dialogue. How is it possible? Seams the config did something that couldnt be reverted by replacing it with my old one.. any idea?
Android Feb 17, 2018 @ 9:58am
No idea. I don't notice any loadingtime when entering dialogue. Check if the changes are still applied by entering the command without a number in the console. And fix it if it is. If that fail revert to another fixed graphics profile or something.

The reason this is in system.cfg is beacause of the SSD fix according to the source. Otherwise I would have used only user config.

You have to change the SSD speed in the config to match your system!
Addsome Feb 17, 2018 @ 1:15pm
Wait why are you not making a seperate user.cfg file and putting commands in there? Why are you editing the exisitng system.cfg file?
Android Feb 18, 2018 @ 1:09am
I answered your question two posts ago Addsome.

I can confirm this issue. Any solution so far?

Edit: Okay the problem is gone. I don't know exactly what caused it, but I restored the system.cfg, deleted ShaderCache and did a reboot. Ingame I traveled once and after 2 conversions the loading was gone. Pew...
