How to claim a horse?
Just like the title says really, just curious as to how I actually own this horse I've been riding around on for awhile.

I took it from a bandit camp but in terms of gameplay its not MINE, I can't whistle for it and I don't have a tab under horses in the menu. What have I gotta do?

Cheers!

I am wondering the same :(. Just got one from bandits also.. Doesn't even consider the horse stolen as far as I can tell.

You have to actually get it from either a quest or buy it yourself from a stable.
Any horse you mount or steal is not owned and will leave.

Vaden is correct - the only horse your can "claim" are either the gifted horse or a purchased one - and you can only have one horse (your newly purchased horse replaces your old horse, so be sure to get the $2 for trade-in).

I agree it is totally stupid, especially since some of the horses at the bandit camps are tier 3-4 equivalent. We should at least be able to sell them or turn them in somewhere, instead of just vanishing.

But this will never change - development on KCD seems to have stopped, other than adding language extensions.

There is one bandit horse you can claim, but it requires the dlc with Capon and you need to use the cheat mod so you can write a console command for it. The horse is Nucklavee and he spawns in the camp you need to go to for your Sir. You can then mount it, run off and use the cheat "cheat_set_horse id:gamblers"(or just use the command at any time and summon him). But I'm sure that's not really what you want, it's a unique horse tho, the only one with that coat colour in the game, and comes fully saddled and with a caparison.

Development has in no way "stopped"
What has stopped is development on Chapters 1 and 2, which is what this game is. Development has now fully shifted to the final chapters which will be heavily focusing on events in prague.

LOL - The title of this game is KCD - and development on KCD has stopped (as i said).

They MAY Still be working on the next game, and i Hope they are - but any wished-for KCD changes are Very Unlikely - for example, their latest update didn't include Any significant game patches - but it did add Korean.

And, if they do manage a New Game Release (whatever it will be called), Unfortunately, it will Also Use the (outdated) CryEngine - which made the game feel very Novice-Like - and better compared with ES:Oblivion than anything *current*. So sad.

But this is a Very Old Thread - and i do apologize for supporting it's reviving.

Good point, semantics I suppose.
I agree that Development on THIS game has stopped, they consider it done and bam.
I also did not realize the initial post date. Whoops.

Whilst on horses, anyone ever been round and tidied up the loose horses dotted around after quests. Obviously bandit camp ones, then there is the German knights if he dies in the mines, then the guy you chase in Sassau when following the fake money. And all the ones left behind after the fight with Hagen?

There are loads to find. I brought them all one by one to Pribyslavitz. But soon some wandered off.

Some horses have spawn places they will return to, i.e all stable horses will return to the stable if you teleport them to you, just takes some time. And then other horses that are just random ones will despawn eventually and reset like how npc spawns will reset. Unfortunately no way to make them stay, horses have a weird ownership type of ai/script.

Best horse to get without cheating is Warhorse Jenda, IMHO!
