Horse wont sprint

My horse will not jog or sprint it still follows paths but no matter what I do it will not go any faster then walking. It is not overweight or injured so I don't know what is happening. Anyone have a fix?

assuming PC version

single shift mode will follow the path

double tap shift, while also holding w forward, will activate gallop. Gallop does NOT follow roads (IIRC)

Yes I know how to run, I mean he will NOT run even when the gallop button is pressed. Did you read the post?

i think the horse max weight combines what you are carrying and what it is carrying so say you are holding 90 and the horse is holding 120 if its max carry weight is 200 you would be 10 over the max carry weight so your horse would walk instead of run.

For anyone coming here because of this exact problem I had yesterday, where restarting the game did *not* fix it, try fiddling around with your horse's saddle. I bought a new saddle in Neuhof and put it on the horse, restoring its ability to go more than 0.001 mph. I did not try just unequipping & reequipping my old saddle, but that may work. Mine was at 0% condition so maybe that had something to do with sprint becoming broken/disabled.

If you guys having problem horse not sprinting all of a sudden after choosing race horse perk, check your horse's maximum weight. try unloading some from your horse. The problem is encumberment.

Same problem, somehow my horse became overburdened. And yes it has been 5 years and the game is still a buggy mess

I may be wrong but I think that your saddle bag tack may have been damaged which has lowered it's max carry weight to below it's pre-damaged content weight.
