So... what's the big FPS killer in this game?
GTX 1080
i7 4790K
16GB RAM

Struggling to get even 45 FPS in 1080p in the starting village. Turned down Shadows to high, and Texture quality to Very High, and it's still killing my FPS. Anyone figure it out yet?

I've found that lighting, shader quality, and shadows are the biggest fps killers. Lowering volumetric effects detail helps indoors. I have a 7700k, 1080ti, 32gb. I set everything to ultra preset then dropped lighting to very high, and shader quality, shadows and volumetric effects detail to high. I typically get frame rates in the 70s-80s most of the time but it can still struggle with multiple torches at night.

Optimizing it with Nvidia GeForce Experience might work well too although my optimization settings by default put draw distance at minimum. I get 90-120fps average with these settings from Nvidia:

Object Quality, Game Effects, Lighting, Particles: VERY HIGH
Physics, Post-Process Quality, Shader Quality: HIGH
Shadows, Textures: MEDIUM
Water Detail, Volumetric Effects Detail, Vegetation Detail: HIGH
Object Distance, LOD Distance, Vegetation Draw Distance: 5% (1 bar)
Motion Blur: OBJECT

I made a video about it yesterday if anyone cares to check it out:

Hope this helps.
Fantastic game... looking forward to some patches though :)

Not sure but I found the monastery one of the worst culprits.

Shadows gain the most performance.. Dropped mine to medium on a Vega 64

i have a EVGA gtx970 acx2.0 same CPU and 32GB DDR3-RAM + SSD. I play with all settings on ultra with 900p and get 45-60fps.

45 fps? Lucky bastard. Got like 25 fps at the town square.

resolution is the FPS killer... i have a monitor that is 3440x1440 and with a gtx 970 and i get around 20 FPS... im sure if u play at 1920x1080 you're going to get 44 FPS

for me its lighting and shadows, I put both on medium and everything else on ultra to keep the game from dropping under 60 fps.

40fps in town and 70 everywhere else. GTX1080ti on 1440p.

im glad i still get 20fps in town so its still playable, any less and i would have to take a 2nd mortgage for the 1080ti hehe

Same card.
70~100 in towns, 120~144 everywhere else.
1920x1080, most 'advanced graphics' settings on medium, with shaders on low.

Personally I'm an old schooler and the type of person who doesn't really care about new cutting edge graphics all that much, and so on the scale of Performance vs Visuals I'm quite happy to sacrifice the latter.
In saying that I still don't think the game looks ugly however, and for a kickstarter funded indie type game I'm impressed with how it all looks for me even at these settings.

I put my settings on Very High then set shadows to low and motion blur off.
Resolution is 1080p.

Min FPS 25-ish and Max FPS 45/50-ish. It depends on where I am and what I am doing.
Some cutscenes show a constant 120 FPS though, but I'm assuming that's pre-rendered.
I find it very playable.

My PC : 970 OC / i5 4690 / 16 GB DDR3 RAM / Sata 600 SSD

Shaders for me. Everything can be maxed out except I run shaders on high and get 40 in towns and 60 outdoors. If I run shaders on very high or ultra I dip into the low 30's in town and 40-50's in outdoor areas. i7 5820k / gtx 1080 / 32GB DDR4 / 1TB SSD / 2560x1440 resolution

I wonder,
I’m playing 1080p 46-60 fps on
Ryzen 5 1600x at 3.9ghz
16gb 3200 memory
GTX 1070
Sansung Evo 960
What OC do you have?

Forgot to mention, all settings on Ultra

So guys, i have GTX 1080 I7 4770k and i had in the game 10-30 fps with everything on medium. So what i did to fix this, i just reinstalled the Windows and now the game works as smooth as ♥♥♥♥. Also if you will reinstall it, do it carefully, becouse i did not do it correctly at all. (ALSO I LOST ALL MY 21H OF SAVE GAME,SO YEAH RIP.)

GTX 1070
i7 920 @ 4GHz
24 GB RAM
Running the game from an old HDD too
@ 1080p

I put everything on High setting (and manually bumped up the 3 draw distance settings to 75%), and I generally have consistent 60 fps (and 20-30 fps in cut scenes / dialog screens for some reason).
