But against the strongest opponents in the games, you will fare better with the sword, if you know what you're doing at least. If you're bad at the combat I'd suggest sticking to polearms/maces.
The sword isn't easier, it's better. From what people are saying here, most can't make proper use of the speed or even do a simple combo.
If you can't do that then the mace and polearm are much more forgiving toward someone's lack of skill.
Great pierce and slash damage and its not that heavy also has a nice Def on it if your like me and don't use a shield
And to all those struggling to do combos do what i did train with Captain bernard over and over till its second nature and you learn the basic combo, and the ones you can unlock through the swords skill tree
But its still no walk in the part simply because the enemy also can parry/dodge riposte you etc but at least you have an advantage at least
Another question: Are u able to do riposte in those chained perfect blocking situations? I only noticed Bernhard is able to, but never land one myself.
