Armorsmith can repair armor that is below 50%, at least for me.
Same goes with weaponsmith and weapons, but not vice versa.

Sometimes the armorsmiths and weaponsmiths cant fix things that are really borken, in that case take it to a blacksmith

he meant blacksmith. there is no armorsmith and the armorer will not repair badly damaged armor. go to blacksmith

What does a necromancer say during a magic trick?
Abra-cadaver.
When the items have a red X symbol next to them, they are beyond repair. You can do it by using the 'ultimate repair kit' mod, but the costs are prohibitive. I takes several armourer's kits to repair a single item if it is below 10%

I know this is a very old post but the traders will repair things, even at zero with a red X. If you bring the item to the correct person, tailor, armorer, cobbler, weaponsmith or blacksmith they will be able to repair anything, although it can get a bit costly and not worth it if you plan to sell the item.

Hey, I only have ~ 10 h in the game, but are you sure that every armor can be repaired, even with zero and red X? Wasn't able to repair my red X gear even at the persons in Rattay.

Yes, every armor and weapon item can be repaired:

Armorsmiths can repair all armor except cloth items; leather gloves, jerkins, brigadines, chain, plate, all from zero condition. Note that they can also repair all chaperones.

Tailors can repair all cloth-based items; shirts, hats, gambesons, hose, pants, coifs, etc., and horse caparisons, all from zero. Tailors also repair all jewelery, also from zero condition.

Weaponsmiths can repair all weapons including bows.

Cobblers can repair all shoes, boots, and horse tack, including bridles, saddles, and head barding.

Blacksmiths can repair most non-cloth armor and weapons that are above about 40 condition (orange number), but cannot repair these items from zero - that requires a specialist, such as armorsmith or swordsmith/weaponsmith.

Cobblers (obuvnik) are needed to repair shoes, saddles, and tack...not sure about leather gloves or combat jackets. I know there is one in Sassau.

Forgot to mention cobblers, thanks.

Armorers fix leather gloves, and tailors fix combat jackets and jupons.

Sasau and Rattay have everything you need for fully repairing anything that you can't repair yourself with Kits. Hope you got plenty of Coin though, it's not going to be cheap.
