Is there a way to know what crime you've commited?

I got chased by a guard in Rattay, and he told me I'd have to pay a fine. I was just walking down the road, not doing anything. I hadn't stolen anything from anyone near Rattay. No fights, nothing. It was at night, but I was carrying a torch. It was a 30 coin fine, but it didn't actually tell me what I had supposedly done.

I think that you carrying that torch might have been the violation he fined you for. In the codex under "town garrison" it says following: "For safety it was forbidden to wander at night with any open flame (torch or candle) into any castles, chambers, stables, barns or byres."

I don't know exactly where you were caught doing this, but my guess is it is related to this.

So they might fine you for walking into a building with a torch. That may very well be it. I did run into a building for a second, but the guard who ran after me wouldn't have seen me do it. I'm glad it was something minor like that. I was worried everyone in rattay was going to hate Henry. I'm like the most popular person in town right now and it's kind of cool.

I've got a similar problem. Walking out of town during the day, and suddenly I'm being asked to surrender. I'm not aware of any crimes that I've committed in the town, and sure enough, my rep with the guards went from 100 to 90. My rep with everyone else in the town is the same.

No word on what I've done.

It's weird too, as I went and bought a book from an Innkeeper, and he was all 'What happened to you, you look like you've been assaulted' - yet I was clean and wearing my best clothing that increases my Charisma for when I'm in town, and had just come from a bath house laundry visit.
