not yet, i think the book is in the monastery but its a massive place and i cant sneak everywhere

Where exactly is this monestary?
Do your questmarker point to the monestary or does it still point to the alchemist that gave you the quest to go there?

it points to the alchemist for some reason

It's in the Forbidden Cabinet in the Monestary Library. It's a Very Hard Lock or you can find a key on either the Prior (pickpocket him) or in a bag in the kitchen, one floor down.

I meant the Librarian* not the Prior. If you don't have high Pickpocket, the Librarian will also give you the key if you find all 10 pages of some Love book. 6 Can be picked up while 4 are behind very easy locked chests

I only knew of its location, and left the exploration for a later time. But try to search for the custodian first with his house a north inside the wall.

Ok thanks, also, later on in the game can I become Monk and join these guys? Because right now they just throw me out,

It's been over a day since I last did this so apologies if i was wrong, but I think it was in a bag on the table to the left of the entrance from the mess hall. If I am then I can only confirm its on the Librarian
