In real life you do not start at 17 years old. Why do you not need to go to the toilet in this game? Why does my hair not grow?
Not every real thing makes for a good game.
The "it is realistic" excuse simply does not work. Bad game design is bad game design.
Sure, its a hassle in the early stages, but once you have it high enough its really not that bad. One pick animation will pick up the bulk of what you see/want.
Yet that was your argument. You tell him off for suggesting it is bad design because it is realistic but when the same argument does not go your way you call it invalid.
His point stands, your post is redundant.
I understand this, which is why I think it would be better to replace the 'Third Person crouching down and picking animation' with a simple hand gesture that grabs the flower. I mean, I'd love if the flowers teleported into my pocket for the sake of brevity but I'm willing to make a compromise since the rest of the game has a realistic feel. I just think the crouching-and-picking animation ruins the flow of this realistic feel, especially when you're already crouched most of the time when picking flowers/herbs.
IMMERSION.
Is this true for item picks (e.g. food items such as apples) as well?
Yes, I understand this. Still has nothing to do with animation of picking up herbs, where the difficulty increases with every level you gain. Just because I pick up 5 herbs at a time doesn't mean I'm getting 5x the experience.
