The necronomicon isnt real and is a fictional book within the setting of H.P. Lovecraft's eldritch horror universe.

What it's even doing in this game is beyond rediculous.

The two things that they put in this game that I wish they hadn't are this book and the women in the woods who quote the opening of Shakespeare's Macbeth.

If you introduce something into the game it really shouldn't drag in associations with later periods.

It ruins the immersion and breaks the fourth wall.

Easter eggs do break immersion. I always hated Hitchcock's cameos. Moment of tension; oh crap there's Hitchcock. The Master spoiling his own art for an ego trip.

Its in the Library, a forbidden books cupboard with a hard lock near the door

I can't find this. Maybe I can't find the library. I'm in the room with two bookshelves, tables and a bed. That's the only library I can find.

In youtube videos they appear to get to the Library through a door which is unlocked for them. For me it is a "very hard lock". That is what has been stopping me. I can only unlock "hard" locks at the moment.
