Rattay scribe not home?

Everytime i go to where de rattay scribe lives he is not home even if i wait there for days, am i missing something?

I had the same problem. I checked on him 2 times and he slept in his bed during the day both times. :D the room can be accessed through the bridge from the neighbouring building. Lets see if someone can help us with this.

He stays in his bed. You have to walk up and speak to him to wake him, then he wants a potion from the apothecary round the corner before he'll help you.
