I had a similar problem once - not in this game, but after some windows update. That update changed my sound settings. I had to check some checkbox or change something back and it worked again. But i don´t know which setting that was. Spatial sound - no idea - some setting which i never use was enabled - and i had to disable it - or was it some volume which was turned to zero? Hmm - i´m just guessing here - no help at all.
Deleting saves is not necessary - checking the game files is always a good idea in such a case. Updating drivers can´t harm.
Speaking about non-Steam games, Minecraft is also has no sound at all after the Windows 10 update. But everything works fine when it comes to Youtube and the other softwares besides games. Well, In short, I have sound issues only with my games.
I tried a few methods to fix the issue, like checking my sound drivers for additional updates, but windows shows that there's no need to update my drivers. I also checked out a few Youtube guides like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvjynf0zMG8 but still no result. I checked the local files of DD and KCD once more but still no result. In KCD tried to change other languages in dialogues, switched from full screen to windowed version to put the sound back but it didn't help.
When i first was on Win 10 - and had onboard audio i tried the Realtek driver - or the ASUS driver - unsure - but i had issues. So i switched to the generic windows driver and it worked - disabled hardware updates after it. I´m running a 2016 driver and never had issues - except for that one time after that update - after which i did something similar as in Your video.
That´s all i can say about it. For me it´s unlikely that it´s a game related problem, because it´s suspicious that You don´t have sound in games - except for one intro, but anywhere else. If You start an application there´s a volume control for it - that would be the easiest thing - but i don´t think it´s that.
Do You have different sound devices - like onboard sound + some headset with it´s own soundprocessor? Or onboard + soundcard?
I never used it - but there´s a built in troublemanager in windows settings. Perhaps it helps. At least it can´t make anything worse.
But still KCD, Minecraft, Darkest Dungeon has no sound. I don’t think reinstalling these games will fix the problem I think I will just reinstall my drivers. That’s all I can do due to lack of knowledge about this kind of manual changings.
I don’t use any other devices besides my loudspeakers, I think the Windows update did something wrong to my drivers, and the best solution is to reinstall it.

This action opens the Sound window, where you set your default audio devices.
Dont change anything just open properties then ok it and ok it again go back to game
