The game got its start on kickstarter, I was an original backer, so not a AAA title at all, and have to say there are a few too many bugs and loose ends to be anywhere near AAA quality.
That said, it is it's own game, it has its own quality, charm, and experience sometimes beyond what AAA can provide, so in that sense I agree with your enthusiasm for the game and story. Basically it is a gem in the rough though.
But it has not gone far with community modding, which is a barometer for success in my opinion....
Not the tier of the game. If that was the case a lot of AAA games wouldn’t be AAA. They would be like B.

But, so many other things they could have polished just a bit more to add depth. For example, once you make friends with Capon, you can't play dice with him, ever. Why? That's like his joie de vivre, besides drink and wenches...
