Any way to Mod in a Training dummy?
It would be really good to have a way to train combo timing and techniques outside of combat and/or training with Bernard.

I need serious training time in order to get the combo timing down, and once you complete it with Bernard, that's it, unless you reload.

Is it possible to add items like this into the game, or is this a no-go until they officially add Modding support (and perhaps even then).?

Not exactly... But From the Ashes has a practice arena in the Guardhouse option, which permits setting enemies from 'novice' to expert, and with armour from Gambeson only to full White Harness.

It is probably a good option for training - though it does require getting through the first battle.

You don't really need combos. I never used them but had no trouble winning tourneys and clobbering groups of heavies.

Sure, you get one guaranteed hit out of them but at a stamina and time investment. You can't afford that against multiple enemies. Also enemies have an annoying habit of master striking one of the leading attacks since they are just regular attack spam. Or just dodge one and combo is over. I prefer to attack where and how I think will connect rather than some pattern.

You're better off spending time getting master strikes perfected with Bernie. Rebinding block to right mouse button makes this so much easier. Stab works as mouse wheel up.

I’m assuming that just sparring with Bernard doesn’t cut it?

He's no Einstein, but I wouldn't exactly call him a dummy.

Bernard can be a bit 'too much' when you haven't yet grokked the combat mechanics and haven't increased Henry's mechanical skills enough to mitigate sloppy decision making (player skill). As in real life you have the mechanical skills and the decision making and timing skillset - and superiority in one area makes the requirement for the other much more lenient.

For practice it is much better to have a range of opponents of selectable skill and 'toughness' so you can 'get' the decision making subset 'down' before working on decision and speed... or before you have done an enormous amount of 'training of mechanical actions'.

Ideally copying the mechanics of the From the Ashes arena to one of the other 2 unused ones would be a good start... for reasons, the Merhojed camp one might be a bit unweildy frame rate wise, but Talmberk could be usable after you have completed the Neuhof quest, and until a sensible place in the main story or you build your own.

Ideally, if this were built into the game, there would be a Training dummy that gives feedback as to the success/failure of the combos. The timing requirements seem quite precise, and I couldn't do them with K&M. I had to go out and buy a controller to have any chance, and even with the controller there was quite a learning curve to get the muscle memory working.

I may be perseverating on this a bit too much, as you are right, you would hardly ever be able to use combos in the gank-fest multi-opponent combat of this game. Combos are not needed in the tournaments either, so again, why bother.

Its too bad that there are not more one-on-one fights available, where technique could have more applicability.

I regularly see devices completing in melee (but admittedly, not the roughly 50% proc that I see when engaged one vs one (i.e. roughly one device completes for every 6-8 actions, and it is instead one per roughly 20 actions or so)).

Overall I have made some roughly 900 completed devices (~300 each in 3 play throughs).
